Don't forget that the Japanese V-6 cars that beat us are more expensive as well. Ford probably could have put a more powerful engine in the V-6 and GT but it would have cost more. I read a review of the Maxima 3.5 SE with leather interior, sport suspension, most powerful engine,etc. It was at 30k. My v-6 Premium was 21050. Big difference--and a difference I don't regret.

Well Ford is coming up with a new and better engine to compete with Japs.

Ford's cleanest, most powerful V-6 engine ever - the Duratec 35 - 265-horsepower 3.5-liter but they don't plan on installing this into the mustangs. Maybe they have a 4.0 with 300 hp for the mustang?
