Hello Everyone. I'm new to the forums, but I need some help... bad.

Ok, to start off with, I picked up a 1995 Ford Mustang V6 for free. Sounds great, right? Wrong...nothing but problems. My fiance and I have had this car into and out of the shop this past year constantly...since we have had this car, we've put only 850 miles on it (We've had it over a year). To start off with, we had to have the head gaskets replaced and the person screwed us over, so we had to have them re-done. We've had the engine fully maintenanced now, bought some 17" Mustang GT Rims, cleaned it up, new brakes, you know...the basics.

Since we've had this car, every big bump we'd hit, hurt like hell. You could feel it, so I'm thinking to replace the suspension, however, the biggest problem now is every bump (small or large no matter the speed) you hear "cling clink ting tink" and it sounds like the car is going to fall apart. We took the car into tire barn to have them make sure the tires we balanced, and installed properly and they said they couldn't find any problem. When it is driving, it sounds like a truck pulling a trailor! Also, the noise comes from the front end. I'm not very car savvy, but I got under the car and couldn't find anything loose or knocking.

Another problem is when we hit around 35-40 miles per hour one of the tires shimmies. It's like the brake is barely on and that tire wants to stop while the others are going.

Any help would be appreciated. We have over $3500 into this car now (and did I mention we got the car free!) and I'm about ready to give up and sell it. Please help!

There maybe something wrong with the front steering components. Im not sure though, its just a shot in the dark. I know what its like to not know whats wrong with your mustang, sorry I cant give any accurate advice. But if you sold it now, you might not be able to sell it over what youve paid for it already in maintenance. So whatever the problem is I would recomend getting it fixed whether or not you decide to sell it. Good luck.

First thing, get the struts, strut mounts and shocks replaced. The strut mounts have a bearing setup in them, and it sounds like the bearings have disintegrated. Second, rotate the tires and see if the shimmy problem moves. If so, new tires. If not, could be a strut, wheel bearing, or even a bad caliper.

More than likely, believe it or not, you're probably going to find that your rattle is either an engine or transmission mount. Ford has a tsb, not available through Alldata or any other service program, that identifies the rattle you're describing. If you have an automatic transmission, the fix is to replace the transmission mount with one from a 95 GT. My 98 had the same rattle, and on it, it turned out to be the engine mounts. It was to the point to where it would rattle on bumps, and even on startup. As far as the shimmy problem, it sounds like a tire issue. More than likely a slipped belt. I hope this helps. Good luck.

We got the tires looked at by Tire Barn and they seen no problem with them. The rebalanced them and rotated them. I've replaced the struts as well. We took it to Midas today (free inspection ;)) and they said the the assembly for the front brakes was the problem... i'll find out tonight, but I still need to find out why the engine occasionally revs to 2000 RPM and why the tire shimmies....Thanks a million guys!
