All I got to say to this whole thread is BS
It's so obvious. Unless you raced in reverse and the camry was in drive.... this is starting to smell alot like rice-a-roni. It's impossible to believe that a camry could take a blown v6 or even keep up. I had a friendly run in with a wrx sti this weekend and he could not keep up with me. My buddies have 05/06 Modded GT's (Gears, CAI, Exhaust, and tuned 5 speeds) and they still can not keep up unless running DR's.
Basically --- a camry is now in the same league as a WRX sti! come on .... this sounds like BS or some Procharger propaganda from some forum trying to make it seem like a vortech is just not enough. Maybe it was some bad Procharger exposure with leaky units etc... This is too funny to keep reading anymore. Maybe this camry has a turbonator installed - lol
enough of this...
EDIT --- If your buddy had NOS ... then he was just looking to f with u. Even with NOS it's a little bit of a reach - either way ... lets get some pic's ... that would make us all believers ;) And like Rygen said - have your tune rechecked. Do you have an aftercooler? Maybe much firmer shifts would help you alot too
what kinda race did you have with the STI? if it was from a dig, i am pretty sure that you shouldnt win...i dont even think that most modded GTs should win
my friend chad has an sti and i cant beat him for anything those are way too fast for a v6 but it could be a drivers race maybe he has a wrx with sti wing and fog lights i seen that alot
HAHAH oh no he didnt! the MAVIS link find its way into a thread at least twice a year. You ever play her drag racing mode? drag race a friend based on your WPM.... its alot of fun.
It was from a dig - I'm running over 330 rwhp with 3.73 , TruTrack rear, exhaust, smaller pulleys, and custom tuned with over 30 Dyno tune sessions. I also weigh about 200+ pounds less than a GT. It's not that hard to believe that an sti could ( and does ) loose. Of course a ridiculously modded sti ( just like any other car with enough money and mods thrown at it ) can beat any other car. No one is claiming to be the fastest car here - but looking at the original thread - alot of info was not forthcoming til much later. Remember alot of it is a drivers race with many of these cars.... If you hook - you are in / if you don't you better make up for it as soon as the rubber grips
or maybe my friend's sti is really a tricked out camry with sti stickers on it? LOL - j/k

Hell, i dont feel bad at all, the camry should be a little faster anyways..... I only say that because of its 6 SPEED, YES SIX SPEED AUTOMATIC. before you say something stupid like it doesnt matter it has 1 more gear, just think what ure car would be like with 1 less gear.... think about it.
We have the biggets V6 in the class (4.0L) so how come it's the "slowest"...is it a case of bigger not being better?????
Slowest? I just went down the list on other V6s that we'd all out murder.. Sure we have one of the largest V6s, put out a modest amount of power, but we're torqier than most.

plus the fact that the Camry's starting price for the 3.5L is $24,300! That's only like $800 less than the MSRP for a GT! LOL! I got my fully loaded V6 for $21K...

How quickly we forget. It's a MUSTANG!!!! I always wanted a Mustang and finally was able to buy one. I would have preferred to have the GT, but it didn't make sense money wise at this point. I bought the car because I liked how it looked. I get compliments all the time about my car. I don't care if a new Camry can beat me. I drive the car to work everyday and I enjoy it. I'm not racing it. If I wanted to race cars, I would have bought a Corvette. We have a unique car and probably a classic someday. The same cannot be said with the Camry. All I know is that I'm happy as can be with my car and it cost me less than 20K brand new.

I don't know what I can say that hasn't already been said....
Camry's suck. I would rather be in a Mustang with less HP that nondescript POS. You bought an American car for the looks and how you felt driving it. Either you couldn't afford the GT at the time, or you didn't feel like paying for the insurance (like me).
With my ProCharger, I was putting down over 320 RWHP at 9psi. Now that I'm at 14psi, who the hell knows what I'm getting. I'm hoping for 350. I'd like to see a Toyota Camry take a 75-90% HP gain without blowing something....

I have really enjoyed reading these comments. I live in Laguna Beach, Calif. and the funny thing is that in SoCal Corvettes get very little respect - the big question for 'Vette owners (and they hate it) is: Why didn't you buy a Mercedes or Beemer. LOL Sad but true.
