Default (MAS) troubles on the 95 3.8

My 3.8 has been idling rough and was examining it with a friend of mine. We thought it maybe the plugs that I needed to change, but i looked at the air cleaner unit and thought maybe the mas was screwy. We disconnected it and the motor went to smoother idling. Wasnt rocking as hard. We connected the mas back and it started to screw up the idle and trys to stall the motor.

So my question is the mass air flow sensor dead or just faulty?

Plus on road test it responds better with it disconnected.

Thanks

Emmett

May have a short, that's what happened on my old 98, and unfortunantly the only easy way to fix it is by just buying a new one from Ford, they will run approx $250.

Well I wouldn't do it, because all that shaking and vibrating could damage something. Get it fixed asap as the maf alone helps controle engine fire, and your fuel consumption in relation to your injectors.

A cai bolts up to the throttle body and the maf, yes, you'll need a new one as the cais do not come with them. Dude, just ask your mom and dad for help, when it comes to you getting around, I'm sure they won't mind giving you $250 or so dollars to keep your car running.
