Default New Engine Ideas

Well this 4th of July weekend was the end of my 130K motor. After about 3 runs on the track I was able to hit high 12's, but the engine went as well. It still runs but probably not for long. I can hear something knocking already. I was wondering if you guys know of a place which sells used modified or stock engines with low miles. I have to feed the family so I could not afford something expensive. I have priced out a rebuilt, but it is too costly for me. Im looking to spend no more than 1,500. I know that this is not a lot, but I hope you guys can point me in the right direction. Thanks for your help.

for 1,500 you should be able to go to any local engine remanufactor and get a long block 306 or even 351w stock, just dont go to a hotrod shop go to any engine remanufactor that will offer a warranty. GOOD LUCK. if you can not find one there i can get you some # for the local guys here in San DieGo, shipping will be around 250.

Tnanks for the help guys. To rebuilt my own is about $1800 here in Chicago. I priced out some long blocks and they run about 2400 from a machine shop and 3K and up from hot rod shops. Im not looking for huge horsepower but at least a bored out 306. I can transfer a lot of the stuff from mine and get it quicker. If you know of any shops in your area please give me the number so I can call them. Stang parts has a lot of engines but the only new long block they have is 1200 but all of the parts on it come from used engines. I dont want to spend money on something that wont last. Thanks for your help

You might want to check out Jasper remanufactured engines to see how much they run.

thanks for the info. I found a 306 long block H.O. from Indiana Engines. I never heard of them but it seems like a good deal. If anyone has heard anything about this company please let me know. Thanks.
