I'm pretty disapointed in my new S281. I've owned it for about three months and there have already been so many problems with it I can barely keep up with them all, but heres a few examples:
- The pins that hold on the right side body kit started falling off just days after I bought the car and had to be replaced - The screws that hold on the spoiler were overtorqued because you can see three bumps in the spoiler (this is consistant on every new saleen I have seen) - The left side door cladding started falling off and had to be re-set - The Saleen badge on the steering wheel started peeling off and had to be re-glued, twice. - My front left headlight has un-sealed from the front fascia and is recessed into the bumper - The the front and rear blinker (turn signal) lights in the front and rear fascias are loose and not secured well at all - The grills in the fascias are very loose, only secured in one or two points. One of them was cut too short or something, because there is at least a 1 inch gap between the grille and the fascia - And the last straw, a few days ago I was driving along and the door cladding on the right side just flies off the car onto the highway. - Oh and also, the gears went out and had to be replaced (at like 1200 miles)
I could go on and on.... Basically every aesthetic thing that Saleen did to this car seems to be half assed. Has anyone else had experiences like these? I've had to take the damn car back to the dealer for minor repairs so many times I lost count. I'm really getting frustrated with this.

Yes, it's a brand new car. Yeah it's got a warranty, that's why I said I've been back to the dealer for minor repairs mor times than I can count.... Not sure how you got confused there bud, but that's my whole complaint. It's a brand new car and I've gotta take it in for minor repairs almost constantly...
I finally buy my dream car, and it just seems that Saleen half assed all their mods, really dissapointing honestly.

Look at the bright side, at least your dealer is fixing your steering wheel badge! I think I'm going to give up and fix mine myself even though this issue was noted the day I took delivery of the car.

ORIGINAL: daydark - My front left headlight has un-sealed from the front fascia and is recessed into the bumper - The the front and rear blinker (turn signal) lights in the front and rear fascias are loose and not secured well at all - The grills in the fascias are very loose, only secured in one or two points. Could you post some pics of the above please? I've assembled my fascia and HID's myself and taken my front fascia off and on several times, so I might be able to help you.

I had the same problems with the gears but other than that no problem. I paid tax tag and title for mine about 50K that was back in 12/05--- Sorry to hear about the problems.......

That is too bad. I have heard of some 05's having issues with the side pieces. Push pins go right throud the bottom of the fascia. On the steering wheel logo, either give up and remove it and polish up the Pony logo beneth it, or cut out the pony logo (tin emblem, used a drill and a tin snips) then put the Saleen emblem back on. Worked for me thanks to PolkThug.
on the rear spoiler, I dont have any problem, but if you look real real hard you can see a little dip here and there.
I can understand your frustration--anyone would--but try to remember that your car is an *absolute stunner* (the color I wish I had bought, in fact), these problems are mostly just annoyances, and once correctly fixed shouldn't ever bother you again. I know this is small comfort to you right now, but compared to serious electrical gremlins or disappearing brakes or something, these problems could be worse. Soon they will all be behind you and forgotten.
I have had not a single issue of any kind with my car and find the fit and finish to be consistently excellent; I'm very sorry that you are not having the same experience. If you are not getting immediate satisfaction from the selling dealer, perhaps try contacting another dealer, or Saleen directly? Also, just a thought, but I have found it helpful in the past to be a member of an enthusiast group ( in this case, Team Saleen, SOEC, etc.), and include it in all your correspondence, when contacting a manufacturer or dealer about a problem.
Lastly, this might not be of direct help to you, but I have a theory that the assembly quality might vary between Saleen facilities. Would you mind posting or sending me a PM with the first digit of your bumper number?
Good luck and I hope your problems are resolved as quickly as possible. The only problem you should be having right now is finding the time to enjoy your car, not dealing with annoyances like these.

I also had the spoiler problem you mentioned, as well as in the rear fascia. I loosened up the bumper bolts and the spoiler bolts myself and it helped a bit. Unfortunately with the material these kits are made of you are going to see see "mold" marks when you look at it just right. I complained about mine 18 months ago when I bought it and was told there was nothing that can me done. I've also noticed it on every other Saleen I've seen around. But loosen up the bolts on the trunk lid that hold the spoiler and you should see some improvement.
As for the side skirts, mine are fine. In fact I've heard so many complaints about this that I check mine everytime I clean it before covering.
I've got no issues with my air-damn fitment.
Sorry to hear all your frustrations. I'd tell the dealer to call the regional Saleen Rep in for an appointment to go over all these problems with you in person.
Really sorry to hear about all of your problems. Lemon laws probably vary state to state but if your car has spent a lot of time at the shop getting these issues fixed I would seriously look into it. Good luck.

Figures, I looked at my front fascia last night and it isn't fitting right around the headlights either. I've got pretty large gaps between the lower gaskets and the fascia. It seems like they just didn't carry the mold far enough back to fit under the bottom of the lights properly.
Can the lights be moved forward to compensate?
