my 2001 gt, with just flowmaster catback and o/r h pipe, vs. a stock trans am lt1, and the t/a was an automatic, the first time we ran I launched really good and to my surprise it wasn't really close I'd say 5 car lengths and still pulling, than he wanted to race again so we did and I launched at 3.5k and I spun all the way through first and when I shifted to second I pulled about 4 car lengths on him, I don't have alot of mods, do the new egde gt's beat lt1's that bad or was it b/c he didn't know how to drive, i mean it was an automatic i don't see how you can screw that up

Wierd, my LT1 ate 'stangs for lunch. Sounds like he had some problems. Stock they dyno around 245 whp with the 4L60E tranny and weigh about what you do, it should have been a driver's race.

All else being equal they are a driver's race, so your steeper gears and more efficient tranny gave you the win. Not to mention your light mods.
