you could probably have supersixmotorsports do up a head for you and match it with that 4.5 stroker kit and be making 450+ hp easy. Its actually exactly what im going to be doing but first i need to do the following 9" currie rear end coilover conversion to the rear bunch of suspension supports aluminum shaft does anyone know what transmission is on our 4.0l and what it can handle or what i can bolt up to the sixxer.

assuming you do get that and get it installed.... who will do your tuning for it? Get it installed then have it towed to a tune shop?

That much displacement in a V6 configuration - along with a Stroker design (Depth is greater then width)... THAT think would absolutely kick @ss in the TORQUE department! You would lose some RPM top out - but way gain in TQ and HP potential.

If I plan to go F/I in about a year should I build a stroker to run NA and max its potential now or build it for F/I and just be satisfied until I can afford the power adder? Hmmmm ... now that I'm thinking about it, what about maxing it out NA then later installing a safe, durable and reliable F/I like X-Charger? Even though it might add only about 30% wouldn't I still be at or over 400 streetable RWHP? Or maybe this just sounds dumb? Anybody got any ideas?

you do need to realize that you need to start looking at the rest of your drive line over 300 RWHP. you'll likely want a new rearend 1 piece drive shaft and somethign would have to be done about the transmission. If you truly want the HP at the wheels and not simply a dyno queen, this will be a pretty expensive undertaking.

I know Speed Concepts has one with 3.31 gears and LSD for $650. And I know the driveshaft won't hold up to that much torque but I thought we're running the same tranny (I have an auto) that the GT's have? And aren't those guys running F/I at over 400 RWHP? Maybe I'm wrong. Dunno. But you're giving me something to think about. Thanks.

Scrming knows the answer to this, I know that the v6 tranny is the Tremec T-5, don't know about auto. I do know that if they are the same, there are still some subtle differences which prevent the straight swap of a drive shaft or transmission.

obviously there would be no canned tune for this combination, so yes i would have to tow it and have it tuned. How do you think they would go about that? Cause they have to have the car running to tune it right? Ive changed my mind so many times with mods for my car but this time i think i will actually stay on track. Whats going to be hard though, is not buying any more mods for a whole year!

I do know that if they are the same, there are still some subtle differences which prevent the straight swap of a drive shaft or transmission. You are right... while the auto tranny is the same model number in the GT and the V6 there are some slight differences... The input shaft is smaller on the V6 version and apparently the clutch pack isn't as sturdy... don't know about the rest.... but... on a positive note.... I was hitting my drive train with 460 RWTQ when i was spraying with the 100HP shot of juice... when we bumped it to 125HP shot the torque was close to 500 ft/lbs!!! That's on the stock automatic and 7.5 with a T-lok in it! On Drag Radials!!! LOL! Now... the issue i see with the stroker kit is going to be labor... it is not going to be cheap and it's not something that you are going to want to do in your garage unless you know how to work on the 4.0L... chances are it's a lot different then any motor you've worked on...

as long as you have the special timing tools, and you knew what your doing you could do it yourself, shouldnt bea huge problem as for the 4.5 and force induction together, IS A BAD IDEA,the thrust angle is going to be huge, if you add boost to that thrust angle your going to be splitting pistons in half,i dont care how well forged they are or where you bought them thrust angle is the angle of the piston to connecting rod after top dead center ,because the motor is stroked out, it has more throw, which increases the thrust angle (which is a weak spot)
