i was referring to the cheap and good gas mileage i never said there wasnt a power difference!

I like to think that there are two sides to every story. I've thought about the "ricer" issue a lot and I've come to the conclusion that it's all about society and how it has shaped our interests and preferences. I don't know, but I'm guessing that in Japan, "ricing out" cars is just as normal and ingrained as "muscle" cars are here in the States. Now I can't say that in Japan they don't love the roar of a nice american made V8, but I bet it sounds a lot different to their idea of what sounds good just as their "coffee can" exaust sounds isn't what we'd all jump for in our own autos. I like to believe that every person is justified in their own right to what they like. I mean, every "ricer" driver out there can't be crazy! They know what they think is good and we also know what we think is good (Ponies!). Those are just my thoughts, now back to the fun: those damn Hondas sound like ****!
fast means different things to different people. To some a mid 14 second 1/4 mile is fast. To other an 11 second street car is a daily driver and considered something the wife could use to get some bread. So underestimate asian cars I dont, but impressed I am not. For the money it takes to get an asian car to run I could build two of my cars to run faster. Cheap they arent if you are talking 1320ft as fast as possible. Cheap to own and operate, well yeah to a point. After 100k miles things go wrong on every car, and import parts are often more expensive.
About ricers. hate em, but they have a right to do what they want with thier vehicle. I dont mind how they look, dress, or talk. What I dont like and absolutely hate is how they drive and sound. Weaving around cars, and driving like a tool just hbecause they think they have skillz should net them much more than mean looks from people who arent driving like a moron.
Add 20" wheels, 450+lbs of stereo, a body kit, a huge wing, a plstic pipe for the intake with a cone filter, and a fart can, then say you have a 9 second ride. 0-60 it would go 9's, if you had a tail wind. Watching a riced out civic get dusted by a stone stock VW GTi is more fun than anything, especially when the Civic is sprayin his massive 50 shot. Luaghable. 50hp to even my daily driver is barely noticeable. to the beater it would be, but its an intrepid.. lol.. rusty and I dont care because it loves the salted roads!
I enjoy embarassing ricers, domestic versions or whatever. I also enjoy embarassing kids who say they have a 350/450/500+hp car that in actuality runs all of 15 seconds in the 1/4. Theyare fun too... :) So how did you make 400hp from a 302? I have one I am building and 400hp would be nice in the 67..
awesome how he hasnt been on since he posted and hasnt said how he has 400 horses. it mightve been a typo, and he meant 200, thatll still kill most ricers.
Its funny... For the last almost 6 years I have posted on various import forums and sport compact boards. I have worked on some of the slowest and a few of the fastest FWD imports/domestics in our area. But there always seems to be some hatred on both sides for each other.
For instance... My dream is to own a white GT and mod the piss out of it.
My best friends dream is to own a white 98 Acura Integra GSR and turbo it. This was all realized this past weekend and he put 300whp to the ground.
I would feel at home driving either of them...although I prefer the Mustang.
...but then again I have never driven around thinking I am the biggest **** since sliced bread in any compact I have driven. At the end of the day it does not matter how fast your car is...there is always someone faster then you.
I don't think there's anything wrong with what your friend did synthetic...that wasn't ricey at all. Rice = More show than go and clearly that's not the case with his integra. The annoying stuff is fake badges and fart cans. It bothers me when Mustang drivers put fake Cobra badges on their car too so I don't think it's a matter of what side your on.

Don't get me wrong...his car is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo damn loud...lol. (custom exhaust coming soon and some aesthetic mods as well) But she moves. On the graph it jumped 100hp between 5500 and 6000 rpms when his VTEC turned over.

My friend has a 68 hardtop with a 302 pushing around 380 hp i believe. He has headers, new intake manifold, hi performace pistons, Gt40 heads (ported i think), 2.5" exhaust, new carb (edelbrock something soon to be changed to a holly something), carb spacer (1" ?) and a few other things i believe. His car is gonna be sweet when it is all fixed up.
Oh yeah, and don't street race. I'm not even 16 yet but I still know not to. Besides the obvious danger of killing yourself, or other innocent people, just ONE ticket can do a lot of damage. Just a speeding ticket will raise your insurance rates tremendously, especially for a male. Then if you get a ticket for reckless driving/street racing... kiss yourself and your car goodbye.
for those of u wondering how i got 400 hp out of a 302 its pretty easy. its a stock block w\ ford racing gt-40 heads. a somewhat aggressive cam. carbourated (demon) edelbrock manifold, high performance pistons. and a stroker crankshaft .a nice engine. Put a ford 9 inch rear, disk brakes and rackand pinion steering. its gotta be a daily driver. (hell on gas) so it goes and its a good looker too. anyone who is my age thinks thats a must. (mostly the compact guys\all show no go) my plan is 2 throw a supercharger or turbo on it and get even more out of it. im gonna start taking races 2 the track also

i saw that in the off topic section too
what a waste of a stang
So, does that mean turning a 1968 Mustang Fastback into a Shelby clone by adding stickers, quarter extensions, scoops and a hood is "ricing" it out?
Show us some pics of your car miamiman23, do you have any dyno sheets?

the answer, No. the saem discussion went on there, if you like, go read it, but long story short, and for the last time, "Ricing" means all show and no go. do you expect a normal v6 stang to make anoy more HP by adding a COBRA sticker in the window? no

What about taking a 2003 Mustang GT (V8) and putting the cobra badges, front and rear bumper covers, headlights and hood on it to make it appear to be a Cobra. Granted it doesn't do anything for performance. My point is, alot of people add the shelby deck lids and quarter extensions, etc on 67 and 68s without adding a 428CJ? Do you agree? Does Ricing still apply to those cars? Im not wanting to disagree or argue with you, I just think this is a reasonable question.

that isnt what a ricer is. ricers are 1. japanese cars 2.have all sorts of body mods but run a stock engine making a clone of a car isnt ricing but i dont like them.
I'm stilll waiting to hear how a 16 year-old built (and keeps from wrecking) a 400 hp small block...
Me too.
Lets call Riply's Believe it or Not
I'm 20, and I'd be surprised if I didnt wreck that car by now. All young people think they know everything and are the badest on the planet, me included, but I realize this so I think it gives me an upper hand. I am just waiting for life to smack my young a$$ into reality
80mph + deer + dead GT = reality smack
