Default Carb upgrade

Well i have just recieved my first car.. a 66 stang. Here are pics she is beatiful. http://www.pix8.net/pro/album.php?u_id=1596KorAe

After the neccasary work is done, i would like to upgrade from a 2bbl carb to a 4bbl carb. This should increase some horsepower/give me experience with the engine. My dad restored 5 of these beatiful cars when he was my age and i would like to try to fix up this one as much as i can. will a 4bbl carb make it sound any diffrent (probaly louder i'd imagine) how much am i looking at to spend. Does it effect mpg? (not to worried about it) thanks guys and i think i will enoy this forum

Sorry I can't help, but hopefully someone can, my 66 GT came with the 4 bbl. I like it, but then again I have nothing to compare it with, but I'd imagine you would be able to tell the difference in the power.

EDIT: nice car dude, that looks exactly like my car, same color and everything, except I have black interior, and mine is the gt version, Very nice coupe though good find How much was it if I may ask?

You will need to get a new intake manifold as well, the intake and carb will maybe give you 15-20 hp, gas milage will be worse if you are into the gas alot. When you start doing other mods (headers, cam, etc) the carb and intake will help out a ton. Don't go too big on the carb. keep it around 600-650 cfm at the very most. good luck

None of your questions are dumb. I would go with the Road Demon 625 cfm vacum secondary carb and the Edelbrock performer intake, the rpm range is from idle -5500 rpm, it will work nicely with a mild small block. If you plan on doing a cam swap and adding headers I would go with the same carb and upgrade to the performer RPM intake, rpm range of 1500-6500 rpm, add a 2000-2500 torque convertor and a set of 3:73 gears and the car will really wake up.
