yes it is a v8. i had all of the emblems on the car shaven off save for the pony. if you looked closely at the shot of the gas cap cover, it says "gt". the reason why i didn't have any engine shots was because i don't have any engine mods except for the k&n. all i have is headers, x-pipe, and a catback. no reason for showing the engine although i do have a handful of parts waiting to be installed. just don't have the time or money to do it at the moment. even though it isn't your thing, i do appreciate that you didn't straight bash on the car.

It is still a sweet looking ride but it sucks to get reved on by a real GT, or even worse, a 3rd gen camaro and get beat. if that was my brother, i'd set him straight really quick. what really irritates me is stang owners, especially v6 owners, that try to pass their car off as gts or cobras. like you said, someday they'll get called out and can't rise to the occassion.

I have to say in his defense, he wanted a GT but couldnt convince his dad to co-sign for one. But still, with him it was all for appearance anyways. He really doesnt care about performance as long as it looks good.

hey i had both of my stangs set up.. my 98 was laser red, eibach springs, tokico illumina suspension, pi heads, intake, tb,maf, headers, x pipe, flowmasters, injectors, shift kit, gears, coil pack, walbro, with clarion fold out orion red hcca 250's infinity perfect highs and two tens... i built mine motor out since getting spanked a few times ticked me off... the 98 was rolling on 18x9 saleens looked mean as h*ll and handled like a dream... the 02 was set up about the same only a 5 speed and the saleens from the 98 werer retained. .. the formula is an 88 ws-6 with 30,000 original miles and is all original. i respect the time and effort and love the doors but i race and the extra weight would kill me.... that and new orleans roads would kill that front end...

I dont even want to get started on the whole ricer debate. A cars a car and i think everyone should be able to design their own, and not worry about everyone bashing it. One thing i dont like are those people that put on an exhaust tip and an air filter then go out revving their engines and trying to race everyone. If those are the people your referring to then only bash those people. I used to own a 90 celica i put on a exhaust, body kit, spoiler, and hood scoop. It wasn't really fast but i loved the way it looked and I never once tried to race anyone. People would always rev their sh.. at me and most of those people were domestic drivers, and i was just minding my own business. Why is it when people design their cars just the way they want others have to go bashing the hell out of it. I think it all comes down to a jelousy issue. I have 97 gt convertible i the only thing i have done to it are different headlights cause basically i dont have any money this summer. Love your car and what are those braces at the bottom of your bumper i've seen them before but what are they? I hope i didnt piss anyone off in this forum just wanted to state my opinion.

thanks matt. you're absolutely right. when i started this thread, i wasn't expecting everyone to be going head over heels for the car. i just wanted to see what everyone drives. if people are going to hate, that's fine. just don't be ignorant and start shooting fire out of their a$$es, you know.

thanks everybody. to answer some of your ???s. the taillights were customized. fuel door was from uprproducts.com. doors set me back approx. $1800. can be diy if you've got the time. no real problems with the doors. just need to be careful because they will rest on the outer a-pillar. i guess that's what they're called. minor tweaks here and there to make doors sit right. because i shaved the doors and put in poppers, i've had to tweak them to work pretty seamlessly.

Yes, it's an 03 GT, NOT a Cobra of any sort. The guy I bought it from was in love with Cobras but couldn't afford one (how surprising?). At any rate, I'm not changing. I'm not taking off the Cobra badges, not taking off the Cobra front/rear, dude, he even put in a cobra steering wheel! I'm not changing it, but I'll tell ya what, I am going to make her faster than a stock 03 or 04 Cobra so I can at least keep my chin up, hehe. Going to take some work though. Right now I've got SLP Loudmouth exhaust, 4.10 gears, K&N air filter, Steeda Tri-X shifter, lowering kit and Steeda sway bars. I'm putting SLP X-pipe/headers on early next year (about to store her for the winter) and I was considering going with a S/C, but now I don't know. Something about superchargers I just don't like...it's not the money. I dunno. I think I prefer to pump her up with bolt-ons for some reason. Throw in a air induction kit, throttle body/plenum, electric water pump and a few other gizmos and I think I can push damn near 450 hp, which is my goal. Anything more than that and I think I'd have to rebuild the engine a bit. I think 400 to 450 is more than enough for a more-or-less daily driver, lol. The only body piece I MIGHT change is the R-Wing, but we'll see...
nice cobra! You thinking on lowering it a bit? Would look even better than it already does.Gotta love them cobra brakes too.;)

And what would be the purpose of the 'lambo doors'? Call me prudish but too many radical mods turn the car into a freak in my opinion. There isn't much to your car that is original. I guess if you like it, thats all that counts.

Not sure on how much it would cost to PAINT them. Mine are vinyl that I got from our sponsor Baltimore Street Mods and I applied myself. It took the whole day, but I'm really picky about them being perfect. haha.
It was $40 shipped for the vinyl, and i went this route because I may sell this car one day and I wasn't sure if i would LOVE the stripes. Of course, I love them, and probably would paint them if I had extra cash laying around for it.
It would probably depend on the shop and quality of the job done. Maybe ask some of the 05 owners in the tech section. A lot of them got their cars painted after they were delivered.
btw if its ur car and u like it, who cares? we all have different taste. :)

Good luck finding one. They had issues with Ford because of the GT emblem. Now, they only sell ones without the GT. The funny thing is, you can kinda see the GT was removed on them.
