Everytime I wash my car, it doesn't matter how many times I open and close my trunk, dry between the trunk/rear quarters and jam a towel underneath the tail lights, water will always come spewing out down the road.

I almost always wash my car right before I take it out, get down the road about 1/2 mile and pull into a parking lot and clean up the mess that's on the back bumper. Then go another 1/2 mile and clean up one last time. It sucks having to do this everytime!

I've used a leaf blower to dry my car quite a few times, it's just a pain in the ass to run a cord out into the driveway and pull out the leaf blower, plus I've whacked the car with it a couple times pretty hard, no scratches but I can just see it happening...

Also, no matter how much I try to get all the water out of the mirrors, slamming the door 50 times and blowing into the mirror never gets all the water out, having a black car makes this a big deal... it'll spit the water all down the door. God dammit!!

Do I need to buy one of those blowers they sell for motorcycles that are small as hell??

I would say keep doing what you're doing. On my 94 saleen the sideskirts would do the same as your rear bumper. I would drive aggressively for a mile, then stop kinda quick and wipe off everything. You really cant do much else. Try braking kinda hard each time you drive to dry it off, usually moves water around quite well! Or plan B, never wash your car again?

Hope that helps Dan.

+1. I wash my car at the carwash, then chamois it dry, drive it home and chamois it dry again. My biggest problem is water dripping down from the hood scoop. Its just the price we pay for driving dark colored cars. But when they are clean...Mmmmmm

That's one of the major down sides of a dark car...

I don't like wiping my car down after going down the road though. Dust collects...even the detailing spray doesn't quite work as advertised, it still allows your wax/clear coat to get scratched.

Car dusters are garbage too.

Haus, when I had my 02 GT...as soon as I was done washing it, I took a big towel and shoved it into the scoop. Flipped it over and spun it around a couple times while drying the rest of the car and it would absorb all the water. Just a little FYI

I've tried shoving a towel into the scoop with not the best of results. I'd always shove a towel in there first thing but no matter what I tried, water would always manage to come pouring out

that **** annoys me big time... although with the color car i have waterspots dont show too too bad (even though im really OCD about them) but i stil havent found a single thing to prevent this 100%

my worse annoyance.. is the water that get trapped under my front grille, water under the spoiler, and in the rearviews

I have an air compressor and use my air gun to blow out all of the cracks when i`m done washing. Works much, better than a leaf blower.

what i usually do that works is i leave my doors and trunk lid open after i dry them thoroughly...when i do other things like vaccum and the wheels.....this gives them time to dry out....there will still be water when the trunk lid closes....but it doesnt happen more than 2....

Damn! I have a compressor I could use from work, much quieter and less embarassing than a leaf blower. +1 for you!

Where does the water hide around the spoiler? I can dry it and lift the trunk lid and close it and 5 minutes later find more water. Where is it coming from?

we have a little blower like that, we got it off ebay for like $40 or something. i love using it, it just takes alot extra time. it is great for the mirros, under the tail lights and the window seals that streak up your windows if you roll them down too soon. if you can find one cheap from somewhere then they are a great purchase. whenever i use it, i never have problems with water running out after i wash it.

The damn upper grille soaks up like a gallon of water and the mirrors too. Really annoying when you have a black car too that shows every little water spot.

I saw one of those on TV a couple days ago.

That's such a rip off. I got my leaf blower for $29.99, works great. It's just...huge and I feel like a major homer using it.
