As I mentioned in "the Beast has arrived" thread I had already got a kill in my new car. I was cruising on the 110S enjoying the open road when some guy in a newer model/style BMW M5 gets next to me and then floors it like I was supposed to be impressed. So I kept going at my regular speed but I shifted down to 3rd just in case he didn't know when to quit. Sure enough the guy slows down waits for me to catch up to him and then tries to floor it again..(Bad Move!) I floored my gas pedal and left him like he was standing still... He didn't wanna play any more and got off ther freeway at the next exit. This was my first kill and i'm glad it was a german car. Some of those snobs think that they can take out any american car once they pay 80K+ for one of theirs..

when you say new style modern M5 you mean the brand new 2006/2007 version? I still like the fact they have a couple of buttons you push to switch the output and what they call 'Launch Control'
http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/0411_bmw_m5/ (first paragraph)

Now if the Z06 had something like that...you could be a track star all day long without trying.

Nice kill though!

I'm not sure what year and I don't wanna claim that I killed the new 06/07 without being positive...So thats why I said new style because it looked like a newer model. I'm sure that I wouldn't have a problem with either but I like to have my facts strait..

well I read up on the 06 M5 and yeah..you'd still kill it regardless of the year. But miss a shift from a dig or launch bad and he'd be on top of you

Mid to high 11s. Give me a couple of weeks in this car and I should be able to get it in the low 11s

"Corrected"

Do you mean low to mid 12's stock, and in a week you hope for high 11's?? Or low to mid 11's and hope for high 10's in a week????

I just want to point out, just because he wanted to race you and just because
he has a German car, doesn't mean he was a snob or "thought" he could beat you.

He might of been a great guy, who KNOWS all about the new ZO6 and simply wanted
to see you run the car and see how close he could stay.

I don't know if that guy was a snob or not but I can tell you from expeirence that the high end car driving guys that I ran into in my C5 Z06 did not take losing lightly... No one ever wanted to talk about things after the race. Some people might think i'm a snob until I give them a thumbs up after a race...

By the way, if you just got the ZO6 why didn't you get a 2007??

Did they give you a deal or incentives on a leftover 2006?

Thats a good question. The 2007 Z06 models have just began production by that I mean 2 or three weeks ago. Those cars are already spoken for and 80% of the future owners are going to pick them up straight from the Corvette museum. Market adjustment will be even worse once the dealers recieve their allocations. So basically the time was right for me to get the 06 model because the market adjustment was no as bad as previous owners have paid. Since next years models won't have any power upgrades or life changing features I am very comfortable with my purchase.
