The deal was pointless untill they got the right color. So once black arrived hurried up and signed the dotted line.

I think he did the right thing waiting for the right color.

Same thing I did with my Mustang. I told the dealer I'll take any color, as long as its black.

Hey nice kill MrRogers. How many miles on your car now?

Right now about it has about 325miles.

Ive got 2,200 miles and have had it for 4 months. Keeping the miles down will add a good resale when I move up the food chain for a faster car (ZO6). I wish I would have known about you before hand Mr R because I would have been next in line with you for a new ZO6 from your dealer connection. I will admit I am seeing more of them lately(I drive for county transit so I do alot of innercity driving so I see a wide array of cars).

Black is definately the best color (but damn it's a bitch to keep clean). So far I've seen a LeMans Blue,Machine Silver, Magnetic Red, and Velocity Yellow. Amazingly I hav'nt seen a black one yet.

The Only negative thing you have on the ZO6 is XM radio. LOL
I had it for the three month trial period but decided not to stay with it due to the fact I hardly drive the car.

Yup, that SOUNDS real good. In all honesty, If I had a Vet like that, I'd be posting pics and even clear car titles all over this Post. Just as I did when people didn't believe I had a modified Mustang.... Again, this all SOUNDS real good.

I don't know... I guess we all have dreams.

Actually gears take away 3 hp on dyno. I am talking about rear end gears as 3:73's. Yet, a gear swap from 3:27 to 3:73 would FEEL like a nice hp gain but is not. I went with 3:73's because I use a charger. But would have gone 4:10's normally asperated.

On the low note, I lost about 1 1/2 miles per gallon after gear upgrade and I have to use high test. Around the NYC subburbs, a gallon of premium goes for $3.55. I get 9 miles a gallon city and 14 highway. I drive my Mustang Spirited all the time. That doesn't help.

And on the race. It would never happen. WE would BOTH win by default!

As I mentioned in "the Beast has arrived" thread I had already got a kill in my new car. I was cruising on the 110S enjoying the open road when some guy in a newer model/style BMW M5 gets next to me and then floors it like I was supposed to be impressed. So I kept going at my regular speed but I shifted down to 3rd just in case he didn't know when to quit. Sure enough the guy slows down waits for me to catch up to him and then tries to floor it again..(Bad Move!) I floored my gas pedal and left him like he was standing still... He didn't wanna play any more and got off ther freeway at the next exit. This was my first kill and i'm glad it was a german car. Some of those snobs think that they can take out any american car once they pay 80K+ for one of theirs..

In all honesty, I think I'd burn you in the 1/4. Straight up. I wish you lived around my area.

and what does your car run?

Never took it to the track. Only have a GTech. Get consistant 11:30's with my Automatic tranny with 3200 stall converter. Problem is everyone says they are not accurate. So how can I know. The only reason I say this is because I ran a Z06 3 times and won the last 2 races by about 1/2 to 3/4 of a car.

Maybe you can. I never said that I had the fastest car. You show your age when you post things like that. I believe that there are millions of moded cars that can hand my ass to me. But there are only a handful of stock cars that are faster and the price for these stock cars average over $150K more than what I paid. I love Corvettes and I didn't buy a Z06 to beat everyone I bought one because I love Corvettes...

well said and good kill

higher (numerically) gears have more teeth, more teeth meshing gives more friction.

higher numerical gears also mean less rotational inertia because the axles are spinning slower...which MORE than overrides the little bit of extra friction. it has more to do with the rate at which torque increases at the wheels and how the dyno measures it. basically it measures more torque and less hp.

I don't get what you are saying.

why would the axle spin slower? the wheels/tires have to spin the same number of times per hour at 20 mph no matter the rear end gearing. I thought it was a fairly well known idea that higher gears can throw off your dyno. and I'm not just saying this cause janine is my future wife.

still havn't answered my question...don't blow out false information unless you have proof..

You are playing with me, right?

Alright, I'll try to explain this. Higher ring gears have more teeth. More teeth means it takes the ring longer duration of rotation to turn the axle one complete revolution. This creates additional torque while slightly diminishing HP. Look at it as if your riding a 10 speed bike. 1st gear is easy to peddle -- much easier than peddling in 3rd gear. However, you can peddle only so fast in 1st gear as opposed to 3rd gear where you can obvioulsy go much faster. In that regard, there is more torque in first gear than in 3rd gear. Conversely, there is less power in 1st than in 3rd. The added force needed to deliver a complete rotation of the axle is the difference.

I did all my dyno at Mustang Magic in Deer Park, NY. www.mustangmagic.com They dyno every conceivable combination of bolt on's you can imagine. I seen first hand on my Mustang the power loss by switching gears 3:27 to 3:73's. It was a 3 hp difference.

This is pure unadultarated fact. No ifs ands or buts.
