the M5 has the same power rating as the vette but obviously its heavier.

they also have "city mode" which at the push of a button disables 2 cylinders derating the car to 400hp.

stock they have 505hp from a 5.0 V10

they are QUICK for a 4 door sedan but no where near a vette.. let alone a Z06

3100lbs.....and $65-70k isn't a big price tag.

dont flame me for this, as much as the new Z06 is a marvel of mechanical engineering...the BMW is SO much more of a car...

while some "tough" rich guy in a new M5 might think that hes the baddest car on the road and try to race a Z06 (my money would be on th Z06 in just about every occassion..unless the Z06 driver only had leg or something), comparing the M5 to a Z06 is REALLY comparing apples to oranges...the M5 has much more versatility than does the Z06 (obviously) but even you ford fanbois should admit that the M5 is one bad ass sedan..stock, they are capable of mid to low 12s, and out of an automatic sedan, i think thats pretty damn good...and those are mid to low 12s with 117-120 trap speeds...not to mention all of the quality interior components of most BMWs...sleeper, if your buddy's M5 wont at least keep pace with your high 12 second car, he needs to find someone to drive it...it should be a mid to low 13 second car stock...

that being said, nice kill...many of the BMWs go to show that a fat wallet cant buy driving skill or common sense...perhaps he thought that you had a regular vette and might have a chance?

As I mentioned in "the Beast has arrived" thread I had already got a kill in my new car. I was cruising on the 110S enjoying the open road when some guy in a newer model/style BMW M5 gets next to me and then floors it like I was supposed to be impressed. So I kept going at my regular speed but I shifted down to 3rd just in case he didn't know when to quit. Sure enough the guy slows down waits for me to catch up to him and then tries to floor it again..(Bad Move!) I floored my gas pedal and left him like he was standing still... He didn't wanna play any more and got off ther freeway at the next exit. This was my first kill and i'm glad it was a german car. Some of those snobs think that they can take out any american car once they pay 80K+ for one of theirs..

In all honesty, I think I'd burn you in the 1/4. Straight up. I wish you lived around my area.

Aw man I love M5s. They are gods gift to sedan lovers. If I had another $90K laying around...lets just say I might become a "rich tough guy" No flame from me. I love all things fast.

and what does your car run?

Never took it to the track. Only have a GTech. Get consistant 11:30's with my Automatic tranny with 3200 stall converter. Problem is everyone says they are not accurate. So how can I know. The only reason I say this is because I ran a Z06 3 times and won the last 2 races by about 1/2 to 3/4 of a car.

ive gone to a few BMW road racing events (to watch) and it seems that many of the guys were pricks...its a shame, as they are a real turn off to enthusiasts who may not be able to afford an M5.

and gtechs are junk as far as im concerned..launching on the track is a whole different world...why dont you take it to the track?

My GTech had me running 12.0000's @ 138mph. Yea, they're accurate. Your car is heavy and lacks power. Good luck outrunning a stock ZO6.

hmm..you like the gtech huh? i dont like it simply because it makes people think that they can jump onto a track and turn the same numbers...youre an experienced driver..its different.
