Default Newbie Questions

Howdy, well I'm new here and have some questions I would really like some help with as I'm currently shoping for a pony. It seems like around here I keep finding automatic tranmissions, not that I have any problem with them I'd just prefer a stick. One of the things I'm wondering is how good(ie. fun, reliable, able to handle more power)the auto's in the 4.6's are. Also I was wondering if it's worth the money to get a 99+, or are the 96-98's good enough. Well, I'd be forever greatfull for any help you all might have, and I'm eagerly anticipating getting my first pony.

to quote other users, the 94-98 are dogs. i believe there are different heads on the 99+ which produce more power. but anyway, going by hp ratings, 99+ is MUCHO better, 260 compared to i think 220

94 & 95 ARE STILL THE 5.0 CARS AND THE 96-98 CARS ARE OK SOME 96'S HAD OVER HEATING PROBLEMS AND THOSE FIRST YEARS OF THE 4.6 LACKED ON POWER. IF I WERE YOU I WOULD GET A 94 OR 95 BECAUSE YOU STILL GET A NEW BODY STYLE BUT HAVE THAT PROVEN PUSHROD POWER!

Pushrods SUCK!!!!....more parts = more parts that break.

More parts = more heat.

If you can, go 99+ with a stick. Because in autos you have to add a shift kit, tranny kewler if yer wanting to add bigger gears. Not to mention driving an auto isnt really driving. Its guiding a car.

Well if push rods suck then tell that to billy glidden the reigning pro 5.0 champ!6.7sec at over 200mph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the fastest4.6 is still in the7's and not to many others are even close! look at all the pro5.0 drivers!Have you even took a part a 4.6? you will find that there is more parts that a 5.0. If you buy a good quality part then you dont have to worry about that. A 4.6 can break just as easy1

Buzz didnt set s**t straight. 4.6s only been out for 7 years. Lack of after market parts is the reason theyre still laggin. Now that theyre coming out with replacement cams and intakes, the times should start going up and 5.0s are gonna look gay. There are limitless amounts of parts for a 5.0. There are very few select parts for the 4.6. And as for the 5.0 having few parts.....Count them. Youll be suprised.

brockleew...5.0 is just plain more displacement...simple as that. put the same thing on both engines and i imagine the 5.0 to be the better. could be wrong, perhaps because of a difference in structure...(like pushrods...what the hell is that...)

My point was that they do not suck! i Did not say that the 4.6's suck or anything like that. but you just contridictied yourself. you said that pushrods have been around for years. but you also said they sucked. well if they have been around for years then they must have been doing something right. howabout this the faster you go the more stuff you break.
