The guy may not have been a very good driver. He may have been out for the first time, The weather may have been hot and humid, maybe he was hot lapping his car, maybe he bogged the start.
I think your getting too caught up on magazine times. Go out to the track set in the stands and just watch what happens.

I have raced a gto in my 01 gt stock I was runing 13.80s he was 14.10 so you tell me I just want to know how my 260hp car beat a 400hp car and I am a vert

i am not saying this to come off as an ass, but that sounds more like weather then anything. from 14's to 13.3 is alot more then 60 ft with a 2.73 auto car. i drove a frineds down the track ( i sent u a PM about that) could barely get the tires to spin the car was so slow off the line. i only got to do one pass, i wouldve like to have tried and flash the converter and se if it slip a lil and get me some more power off the line.
anyway i honestly believe that going from 14's to a 13.3 on a difernet had to do with weather. her 60 ft's would have had to of been 2.5-6. then down to a 2.01

StanMan the tuner for SRT-4 is in Philadelphia, and his card is in my car, unfortunately, my car is in my garage, but i will have the name for you tomorrow. i am working on posting my video runs and i am going to scan my time slips. C6 Vette, I have seen C6 vettes run mid twelves, so you should have no problems. There was a guy at the track, who had a tune, headers, and CAI. He ran 12.3 with a 2.0 60'. SLEEPER05, I did not see the JK next to your sig, so i take it you have work done, so i don't doubt you beating GTOs, because anything can be made to run fast. For everyone else, please keep in mind everyone drives their cars differently, there are cars that are very fast, but people cannot drive them. I have a friend who has a dodge spirt with a turbo and this guy has ran 13.0s consistantly. Back in the early 90s, my buddy had a turbo dodge omni that would run 14.2 all day long. That was enough to beat a lot of mustangs on the street. we made a lot of money with that car, until it finally blew up.
I was always taught that you should take your car to its full potential, before adding any work. This is why i left my car stock. I did the same thing with my 87 nochback 5.0, back in the day. People don't realize, but 87 was the fastest year for the 5.0 mustang, for some reason they were a beast. I guess because of the speed densidy, (sorry for the grammar). Stock i ran 14.2 at 92. With removal of the stock box, advanced timing 12 degrees, MSD, gears (3.55) tires and exhaust, i was able to run 13.2 at 103. No one believed until they saw the time slips. I told my brother i will not add any parts to my GTO, until I get a solid 12 second time, why? Because, this car has 400 hp. and 3770 lbs equates to low thirteens high twelves. Look at the Cobra. The 03 Cobra is APPROXIMATELY, 60 lbs lighter, which may equates to 60 HP. But, we all know that the Cobra is under rated. many people dynoed 390 HP. With that said, these slow GTOs that people are seeing are driver's error. i have always loved to play the odds, this is why i bought this car, because they said it was not that fast, but i am steady kicking the sh..t out of drivers. The key to launching this car is riding the clutch until traction is gained and i power shift all the way through fourth.
As stated before, i love the Mustangs always will and i will probably buy the GT-500, in a couple of years, i love to debate on cars, because it keeps you up to date on different cars you may run up against. This is why i am very opened minded when it comes to cars. Even when i had my low 11sec GN, i took no one for granted especially when money is involved, this is why i used to run NO Times at the track!!!

i have never raced an ls2 gto from a dig, only from a roll so there were no traction issue excuses. let me tell you it put up MUCH more of a fight than any 05 GT has ever given me. i never stopped pulling on him but the faster we got the slower my pull was. I always want to root for the stang but i have to give credit where credit is do stock for stock and properly driven as stated above, the GTO is faster.

i seen several gtos in 1/4 mile at ennis texas and they run 14s....never seen a true stock one run 13s i think cuz there r heavy

To my 05-07 brothers, if you get an 05 GTO to line up next to you, don't consider it an automatic loss. Just buckle up and nail it. They can and have been beaten by our cars. That goes for ls1's, Mach 1's, and Charger Srt-8's too. We're faster than people think. I surprise folks quite a bit in this thing, before the gears.
