A New Acura...BREAKS???? HAW, HAW, HAW......thanks for the laughs.
I have owned or been given to drive by my Company (let's see....) more than 15 new cars that I have driven an average of 125,000 miles EACH, and NEVER had a catastrophic breakdown involving getting stranded on the highway...until now with this 2006 Mustang GT convert with less than 7000 miles on it. Take any long trips lately? Seen any late-model cars sitting on the side of the road waiting for a flatbed? Come ON!
I am still waiting for the dealer's response. I'll post the dealer's name and the response on this thread when it eventually comes. So far, I only got a response from FRPP's Techline, and their response was that they accept no product returns without prior inspection, but they won't inspect anything unless it's returned.
Well I didnt read all of the above, but I would say the following.
1) Factory gears, ford, mopar, etc usually are the best and hardly ever fail.
2) Installation is everything. If they messed up the install, it is the dealers fault, not the cars.
3) Setting up a diff is not an easy task by far. I have done a couple, and checked others work. When I do it I am super fussy and will pull the thing apart countless times to get the pattern on the gears perfect. I might spend 4-6 hours just setting the pattern on a diff under a car. It is not something that goes along with cheap or fast. It is not a simple bolt on.
4) Break in is critical, gears have to be broken in to provide a long quiet life.
I dont know if the above applies to you or not. And I would be super pissed at the ford dealer. IMO, demand they pay for the tow, rebuild or replace the whole diff, and give you a loaner car. It is their fault 100%.
But dont blame the car, it really has nothing to do with it. The diff in these cars is really a pretty nice piece.

Have you ever modified cars to this extent? Sorry but once you start modifying cars things will break. No car is 100% and more so when you modify them.
First, Ford gives you free towing and roadside assistance while under warranty. So why in the hell did you pay for the tow? I used it once for free gas. hahaha
Second, I wouldn't demand them swap all the parts back out for stock. The gears were just installed wrong. Get them to replace everything free of charge and pay for your rental/loaner car. My dealer will give me a loaner car for any type of warranty work without hassle.

Thank you! I believe you are 100% right. I am still waiting to hear from the dealer. Won't be going off the deep end unless they fail to satisfy. In the meantime, people should be warned that a GREAT car can become much less if a mod goes bad as I have described above. And I still think I am in a much better position than if I had gone to an independent speed shop for the install and possibly had the same thing happen.
There's little doubt the dealer is at fault here and should stand behind their work. There's absolutely nothing to be accomplished by insisting they take everything off and put it back to original. If you're unreasonable you expect them to follow suit. I realize it's difficult but try to keep your cool and get the car fixed under warranty. I'm assuming they guaranty their install. If they are uncoperative then that's another story. You'll have to go up the ranks until you do get satisfaction. I doubt there's anything else wrong with the car except for the rear end. Get it put back together the right way (not sure what that will take) and you'll love it.

There really are only a few things that can cause this. One is a bad install like everyone else has said and the other would be and improper Break In Procedure. What did you do for your break in Procedure? And how soon after the gears where you hammering the throttle???????

Well, I have nothing else to contribute because I have never been fortunate enough to have a 99.99999% ( excluding his current Mustang of course ) non failure rate with everything I have ever owned in my life. I guess if I walked on clouds and one day my cloud wasn't there I would be whining like a girl too...
So, lets change subjects. Tell us about this 1.875 million miles you have driven.

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
It sounds like you have your mind already made up Pitbull. I say sell the mustang and buy your Acura. If you are trying to compare a mustang GT to an Acura, personally I don't think you deserve the stang. All I can say is that the way you are handling this situation, I hope nothing truly tragic happens in your life. I don't how you could possibly handle it.

Man, the world must be turning upside down because I saw a $120,000 Mercedes sitting broken down on the side of the freeway this morning. There is no way a new, quality car like that would ever breakdown on the side of the road.

Was the driver next to the car in a semi-fetal position, flailing his arms and legs, while yelling?
IMO no brand new 2006 vehicle should be spending much time in the shop and should definitely NEVER need to be hauled on a flatbed. Once they break down on the road, especially with your lady in the car being put at risk, they have to go. Case closed.
Don't take this the wrong way but I think you're right...case closed. I am confused as to the purpose of your post as you don't seem to care for any input and have already made up your mind. I think you'd be better of in an Acura... and better not mod it either.

Do you realize that this would be 1,875,000 miles! At an average of 60 miles an hour, that would be 31,250 hours driven, by -say 8 hrs a day 3,906.25 days or 10.7 years of driving!! C'mon ! Seems like you should know how to drive correctly or tell when something is going wrong, or not quite right with a car by now. My .02, just seems a little far fetched! You were hammerin' on it to early?! with your girlfriend in the car. How cool are you now? Go buy some rice for that whine
