I just received a 66 Mustang as a birthday gift from my husband. The interior color is red and I need to replace the dashpad. The problem is...it looks like it is maroon! Would Ford have put a maroon dashpad in a red interior? I privately emailed two individuals that had 66's for sale and had the same colors as me. I got two different answers, one said yes, it was maroon and the other said everything should be red. If any of you have a Mustang with red interior, what color is YOUR dashpad?

I have a 66 mustang with red int. and I have a black dashpad, but I wouldn't of minded a red one. I think FORD would be the kind of people to do that. Hopefully that might help a little
Your car is absolutely correct with the maroon dashpad. Ford made the interior trim with spesific appointments to offset the general interior color. This ofcause changes with the different interior trim-codes noted on the door data tag(if you have it) I have a -66 convertible with trimcode 65(red deluxe) and everything inside is a specific red color (not the same as exterior red!!) exept for the appointments which are maroon. These are; Dashpad, carpet, defroster/radio-speaker grille and lower windshield molding. The interior-paint is suppose to be 20%gloss exept for the appointments which are "matte".
Well, if the rest of your interior is suppose to be red then the crashpad(dashpad) is going to be dark red(or maroon) for 1966 model year. In the past before the repop pads started to show up -66 owners had to buy whatever NOS they could. This often resultet in dashpads with incorrect color compaired to the rest of the interior.
