The Challenger seems as if it will be limited production, or priced out of direct competition for typical Mustang buyers. The Camaro on the other hand - guess we will see??? The new Mustang is still good/great as far as bang for buck goes, but what is REALLY setting them apart IMO is that they really struck a chord in overall form/design. Something the GTO, Cobolt SC, Neon SRT-4 did not. The Charger design seems to have gotten some admirers, but the "beast" version is in the entry-level luxury sport sedan price range. For the $$, the Colbalt SS/SC is right on the GT's heals. As much as we love the V8 HP, the nice looking, yet mediocre V6 is what keeps the Mustang going. Hopefully they will not let the GT fall behind in performance per dollar due to thier current financial issues.

i fear that you might be right about the limited production of the challenger. i have heard SO many rumors, many of them stupid, i just try to ignore them now...however the "limited production" is a very popular rumor, and it true, the price will skyrocket. i have heard that they will start by making a run of 5.7L, 350hp models with a manual transmission, and based on sales, they will later make a 6.1L and V6 model...if that is the case, i dont know that ill bother, as im not going to pay 50 grand for a car that will struggle to beat a stock GT. we plan on buying a challenger, but there is so much talk of it being another "elite vehicle" (because, dodge needs another terrible selling car like the viper), and if it is "elite", no one will buy it and use it like it should be used.
the new challenger and camaro might be a smidge faster but whos sold more? ford. if you go into your average highschool parking lot what car will you see everytime? mustang kids cant afford the new stuff like chargers and camaros! we CAN afford old mustangs with big v8s though! not me though... freakin insurance company... to me that makes the mustang and fords better
I know exactly what your guys are talking about. Before i got my first car i had no idea about anything about any car. My friend and I got into them pretty heavy (though i have to admit he's an effin genious when it comes to the stuff). Him being a Chevy fan i hear about it all the time.
I own 2 fords and a chevy (00 Taurus, first car, 95 Mustang Gt, just bought, and 94 Metro) and i have to be honest about my cars. The Metro i ran the crap out of and it's still going strong. 90,000 miles in the Taurus just by myself and 171,000 in the mustang when i bought it. Now all i hear about is how i have the best fords in the world cause they've lasted more than 20,000.

"You can have it in any color you want. Long as its Black!"
or it means that the mustang has been around forever and they run for a long time so teenagers can get their hands on them that and insurance rates on new cars with big v8s is out the ass for guys
personally i cant wait for the new challenger and camaro the days of riceburners is over american muscle has returned
I really do try to come at this nuetral. But it's really hard. All I see GM do is take the same engine every time and put it into different cars to appeal to different buyers. I would pi$$ myself if the new maro didn't have a 350 in it. And they have run the past few years with only one sports car, and no muscle cars (2 seater vettes = sports car). I am glad to hear the challenger and maro coming back. But after the failure of the retro design in the gto, I am really worried for GM. Also, they have no car in the mid engine category. We have the GT. They have nothing close to that. Well in short, my gm opinions;
new Camaro: Chevys investment of discontinuing the maro for the buildup of its return is now here. The retro design is already largely a flop (purely my opinion untill sales records reflect it). The large v8's of yesteryear are phasing out. More modern engines use less CI's and give the buyer a better handling car than these outdated monsters. Chevy better think this one through, or a GM FORD merger might become very realistic to them.
Corvette: Chevys flagship car. Regardless of my Ford bias, this vette is a nice machine that appeals to many buyers. As is evident by the swarms of them on the road. Chevy better hold on to this thing like it's their life force.
Cobalt: I have to admit, it was a wise choice to fire a rocket into import territory. Too bad this thing is very slow for a supercharged machine. Still, sales appear good and the car is out on the road all over.
Cavalier: Chevys Focus
Not too impresive to me. They need to hit a home run with the maro to take away from Fords Mustang sales. I just don't think they will recover from their hiatus.
the reason chevy stuck to their 350's is the small block chevy revolutionized automotives as a whole, the turbofire 307's and 305's were the origional 5.0's and i think that the new ford modulars are overwieght and overrated, i think that ford and chevy have a love hate realtion ship

I get the same thing all the time, oh, well fix-or-repair-daily....lmao, thats why your chevy crapped out at 50k miles huh? Well that uh was uh the uh, and all I'll say is spare me, most people have no idea why the like chevy anyway, ask them why the like GM, is it because they still use pushrod engines? Or because they don have any affordable perfomance cars, or is it because ford killed them in the muscle car race in 69'? Yea uh, they have the corvette......pleeeeassssee, the ford GT would smoke the living s**t out of it, kthxbye!
I have had success from both but 50K? My 454 is about the hit 300k no problems, even the trans made 270k. As far as why I like GM...it is hard to argue that the 350 doesn't have more aftermarket support than any other motor on the road. Gt is crazy fast and crazy looking but a twin turbo kit on a vette will put a hurting on a gt with enough money for a condo left over.
but as far as the slams against chevy goes----Chevy is like a rock, only moves when you kick it.
