Default Dull/Dirty Headlights

My Mustang's headlights are rather dull and looked like they were poorly (attempted) cleaned. Any suggestions to brighten them up?

I've also used a product made for convert rear windows, it's a paste that you rub on, and buff off. It works on any plastic, I even used it on the display on my work cell phone - It removes any dirty film and will eliminate fine scratches.

wet sand with some 1000-2000 grit paper then buff them out

Sorry, I'm bringing back a thread from the dead...but is there any sure method of clearing up my headlights? I know there is a tutorial somewhere. All I've heard is wet sanding and buffing....

See this writeup. And hope that most of the haze is on the outside. I just replaced mine, I found a good deal on a set of used headlights on ebay and swapped them out. Good luck.

BTW, if you can find a set of headlights from a 2001+ I think it'd look better with the smoked headlights with the black trim, versus the clear and chrome. Of course I understand that the assemblies aren't usually cheap.

Oh Mods...I didn't write the writeup but can it be stickied? This question is asked ALL THE TIME. I literally cut and pasted my exact response to someone else's request for the same thing.

I tried to clean my old lites to and nothing worked, I guess they were to far gone? So I had to just replace them.
Yer ride would look sweet with some smoked headlights like the ones I got.
got them off ebay for $110.90 shipped

I have seen detail places use plexi polish and a high speed buffer to take scratches off of bug deflectors and lights. they just ran the buffer down it and it looked new in 3 seconds.......
