You don't have a problem driving at night with the tint?

No, I'm used to it.  You do have to be careful though.  I open the windows when I back up, especially when I back into my garage since I came about a 1/2" from ripping off my driver side mirror once, lol.  My wife flat out refuses to drive the car at night too.

I had 15% on mine till last week, Got pulled over by  a Arkansas State Trooper and told me it was too dark by his meter, and it can't be any darker than 25% here so had to put 35% on it, it's lighter, but I dont like it, O WELL!!!!

I think 20% is perfect.. looks good.. but cops can still see you inside the car in traffic. Not too bad at night too. I am just too used to tint.. I tint every car I have.

I have 20% and love it..Its not too dark and most cops don't bother with it ticketing 20% if you go darker than 20 like 15% or less your prolly in trouble

Live in Florida as well. Have lived in a few cities here and always driving throughout the state. Never have been pulled over for tint or issued a ticket for tint. Wouldn't they consider illegal window tint a secondary/non-moving violation and couldn't stop you based on the darkness of your cars window tint? I know thats how the seat-belt law works here.

I totally agree with the guys who said to roll down your windows. Nobody likes being pulled over, but a little bit of respect and courtesy towards the cop will get you a long way. Like they said, roll down your windows, turn your dome light on. I don't even reach for the glove box until the officer gets to the car so he can watch. That way he gets a visual on what you're digging out. Just a thought. You scratch their back, maybe they'll scratch yours in return...or at least not give you a ticket.

By the way, looking for pics of white mustangs with around 20-25% if anyone has any. Thanks.

It's the cops choice, believe me. Let's put it this way, if you and another guy are doing 68 in a 55, and you have very dark tint, you are getting pulled over. A cop friend told me its "other than manufacturer standards" that cut the decsions for pull-overs. It's how they get a lot of drug-busts.
I'm in the same situation, it's a big gamble, and if you do get stopped, a huge pain in the ass.
You could try getting a note from your doctor saying you have photophobia or migranes, though, ;-) That is one option, the other is to just get lighter tint.

I am a cop in Cali and I can tell you the reason for the law is officer safety!!  Need to be able to see what is going on when you approach the car.  With that being said I have tint all around and have been pulled over numerous times for it.  If you tint your windows you are giving any cop probable cause to stop you at anytime, if that doesn't bother you then go for it.  Most of the time you won't get stopped if your tint is REASONABLE because it does get so hot here, but it IS illegal.

Man I wish I could have gotten a "Fix-it-Ticket". I have 5% tint all the way around and 15% on the windshield and when I got pulled over i got a ticket for $145 bucks! but I guess thats the price you pay for having GOOD tint haha

I'm in central CA and i've had 20% on front windows and 3% in back for a couple months now, and i've driven by countless cops without a problem, but a couple days ago a motorcycle cop spotted me at a red light and came after me.  we were both courteous, but he told me that the law is that i can tint the back windows as much as i want, and that i can't have ANY tint on the driver/passenger windows.  he wrote me a fix it ticket, and after i get it signed off i plan on putting the tint back on the front windows, and maybe even putting 3% instead of 20%.

i think that if your gonna get tint dont just do the back windows but not the front cuz that would look weird.  go all the way and tint the front windows too, even if you do get a fix-it ticket along the road it wont kill you.  and rolling down the windows whenever you see a cop should help, especially if its a motorcycle cop

After doing 60 in a residential 25 at 11:58PM, I got pulled over.  Only a warning on the speed, and a $10 fix it.  Went to court the next day and handed the cashier my $10, never showed anyone my windows...and that was that!! F%$!! the windows...just glad to catch a warning on the 60!

i just did my front windows with 35% visible light transmission, my back and rear windows have been 20% for a year now. The legal limits for window tinting by state can be found here: http://www.window-tint-school.com/state-window-tinting-laws.pdf

for cali this means: front windows must have at least 70% transmission, back and rear can be as black as you want. So let nobody tell you otherwise, not even a cop. This means that my front windows are illegal, but i don't care. i carry valuable materials in my car and don't want people to sneak peak in. However, now i am curious if CHP will pull me over or not. They never did when I only had my rear and back windows tinted.  The 35% looks pretty vissible, so should be OK. A little "anti-law" is exciting.

When I left the tint shop, a guy came in who had just been pulled over by the CHP. He had 20% all around. So CHP does look, but not if I do 45 in the left lane, only if my windows are too black.... hahaha being a CHPer used to be a respectable job, now they are only tax-collectors... "I petty the fools"...

I have an uncle as well as a couple friends who are in law enforcement and what they told me is they would almost never pull someone over with illegal tint and this is a quote "because the boys back at the station would give me hell for it." haha. this is coming from a 21 year L.A. city cop, two sheriffs, and one highway patrol.

If you live in the city like me the cops have so much more to worry about they wont care. Ive got 10% all the way around and havnt had problems. I woudl imagine if you live in a more remote place however the cops have nothing to do and will pull you over just to give you a hard time.
