For starters, a WRX cannot beat even a mustang stock for stock in the 1/4 - their mid - high 14 sec cars. The WRX STI is a low - mid 13 second car - hardly something that can beat "any stock domestic".... hrmmm... any stock domestic that runs mid 13's or lower stock:

Mach1
Cobra
Camero
Firebird
Corvette
Viper
GTO

Im sure theres more...

sorry you didn't settle anything

what i really meant was that a stock awd, except an evo8, will beat almost any stock car of the line. sorry bout any confusion. and a wrx is a mid 14 second car.

an evo8 is not a 50/50 split as anyone at a mitsu dealership will tell you. it is really like 65% to the front, the rest to the back. during NORMAL use under 70 mph. at 70 mph it splits almost all the power to the rear. in drag racing the evos front tires have to spin slightly to lock it in 50/50 mode. it is based off nissan's ATESSA system (skyline)

what the hell does the weight distribution have to do with it? The EVO 8 has Full-Time All-Wheel Drive with 50/50 Viscous Coupled, Center Differential, Front Open-Type Differential and a Rear Mechanical Limited-Slip Differential. In Lamens terms... it'll send the power to the tires with the most grip in any situation, launching, braking, cornering, etc. Besides that, you're wrong also, it's got a 60/40 weight distribution. It's amazing what 5 minutes looking it up gets you... accurate information.

With the right launch the EVO 8 and STi will take any RWD V8 sports out of the hole, but once the end of 1st and 2nd come up the RWD V8 will catch up.

I really want an EVO 8 RS... lighter, cheaper, faster... yummy

If you typically only run to 40mph, then AWD is your thing.

Why are we still arguing with this guy?

yes cbehney, we both love nsx's. i saw that from the start. i wasnt arguing, just adding knowledge to the field. i used to do waaaaaay to much honda stuff.

and the truth about the whole awd thing is the mitsu is a front drive derived system. the engine and tranny are transverse and the split goes to the front. they spin the front furiously out of the hole. still sti's and evo's destroy almostt any car, import or domestic, from a dig right up to 60. after that, it's all over. i can beat my buddy bill's worked 03 cobra in the 1/8 by 3 ticks, but he turns the table and beats me by 3 tick at the big end. that is 6 tenths of make up speed at the big end, and still pulling. there is no comparison and no contest. V8 RWD will own AWD eventually. i lose to alot of them on the top end. no, it doesn't hurt my feelings. on the street i stop at the top of second gear. i dont lose.

if they both have 400 at the flywheel, the rwd will put more to the ground. 400 fwhp only equals 300awhp in the wrx.
from a roll with equal hp i give it to the rwd. from a dig it's close. with an insane launch, awd.

now with actual wheel hp, the AWD wins every time. my stock numbers were ~180hp at the wheels but i ran a 14.4. i would love to see any other car in the world do that. a V8 w/ 400 rwhp will lose to a AWD car with 400 awhp every time.
it only took me ~235awhp to get into the 12's. not many other vehicles can claim that.

the light car company rocket might be able to. 143 fwhp at 10500 and it only weighs 882 lbs. 0-6- in 4.8. the engine comes from a yamaha fzr 1000. but it only has 77 lb ft of torque at 8500 rpm.

The original poster of this thread is complete bs, you can tell by the way he talks. Looks like he's running throught the net trying to find the names of mods he can list. By just saying hes got a motor swap turbo and nitrous, without listing anything else gives it away. ESPECIALLY because he said he was running 15 PSI?!!? lmao I know guys with turbo's hondas and they boost more like 8-9, you must not be running on stock internals with high boost numbers like that right? Guess you forgot to leave that out I own an 05 gt and a 97 eclipse gs-t as seen here: http://hometown.aol.com/robertgst/car.html And one thing I can tell you is that no hondas are fast, NONE. Every honda you see on the street just remember only about 2 % will be able to break 13's in the 1/4. Hondas are among the most hated in the dsm community as well as the import community, because of people like the guy that started this thread, they claim an intake, exhaust, and header will get them into the 10's ROTFLMMFAO!! Thats why no one likes hondas. Even when my gs-t was stock I would pull 4 cars on any i/h/e gsr/type-R. Face facts your parents left you with the family commuter car, its not fast. When they go to see fast and the furious they should be checked to see what kind of car they drive and hondas shouldn't be allowed. Ricer propoganda!!!! Completely modded honda, with turbo, n20, slicks, and a 2 second head start will barely break the 13 sec mark.

my car runs mid 12s, and at the track a few weeks ago there were a few guys with older hatches with boosted K20s, and they were all in the 12s, and one hammered me, running something like a 12.20 @ 113...while i dont doubt that this guy may have been BSing, to say that "no hondas are fast" is very foolish...thats like saying "all V6 mustangs are slow"...figuring that we have built V6ers on this site who can prove otherwise.

-in before the lock that mike hawke is about the issue...because canadians hate fun, and hate old posts..
