Hey TJ, I too own Fbody's. 3rd Gens were decent especially when modded. This guy obviously has a 305 car. 350's werent ever had in T top Fbody in the third Gen. You can put one in, but it wasnt there when it was new. I like them too, even though they have a chevy in there where a good Pontiac should be. I was out doin a fair piece of street racing back when they were new. I havent found one that was unmodded/stock that could hang with a 5.0. That is then this is now. The stang got a bit slower, and the F's got axed. Things change, but still we like what we like.
My only beef with Mustang owners was simply guys pullin up to me, throwin revs, and talkin trash. I would tell them lets go out and run them, they would say I wasnt worth their time, yet wouldnt go race. Seems to me like now its the Import guys. Not all, just a few of them. I own Fords, and Pontiacs. I prefer to race a Pontiac because they are easier to make run pretty quick, not to mention cheap to buy.
IMagine this, you have a solid 11 sec ride. A kid pulls up in a 95 Cobra and procedes to play a bit. Wont go run because you arent a challenege to him, even though everyone behind you can smell the race gas. He just keeps messing with you, and you dont really want a ticket so you just leave him be. He just bought the Cobra and it is only 2 years old. It is stone stock. Not even a chip in it. Its annoying and dangerous for him to be stupid next to you, besides it draws alot of attention to your car, which is never a good thing. BTW, my 11 sec car is a 79 Formula Firebird. THis is why I dislike kids who do this, then of course he beat me, and my car is slow. Still I cant get a race for money, and everyone messes with me. Sometimes I thought a ticket would be worth it. But killin someone wouldnt.

i understand u completely about ur racing. but the 350 ttop thing is completely wrong, maybe with camaros. but my 89 was a numbers matchin formula 350 with ttops, a lot of the formula 350s came with ttops, as a stock option.

well i too have had my share of 3rdd gen F bodies, an 84 berlinetta, an 87 formula, and the most recent.... our very own morons car...an 86 IROC-Z. from the sound of this guy, im sure his engine is completely stock, note he listed his accesories, and none of them were performance parts. being an 86, he obviously didn't have a 350, as it was not an option, although they did put the L98 in 50 cars for testing they were never produced. the chances of this guy having one are slim. so his 270 hp claim is way off. mine had 195 stock from a 305 tpi, and there were a few combos for engines and rear end gears, but none, not even the last tpi 350 in a camaro, was rated quite that high until 93. somewhere here on my computer i have a spec sheet on every 3rd gen made from 82-92, has all that stuff on it. im sure if that was real, hes in jail by now, or has wrecked his car, or blew his engine revving at a cop.

Does it have a 5 spd or a 700R4? If its a 5 spd, you are the proud owner of a 305 car. What it may have now is altogether different. Dealers may have installed T Tops, but the factory didnt with the 350. I was kinda in the buisness back then. You absolutely sure its not a 305 car? Like had the heads off and all? If it does have the T roof and the 350 its rare, really freakin rare. Even the GTA's with the TPI 350 didnt have that top. They had everything else. But no T top.

the TBI RS camaros had 170 hp. mysterious has a good argument. when i was shopping around for my first camaro, i became frustrated that i couldnt find a 5ps 3rd gen Z28, iroc or not. new to cars at the time of course, i searched and searched the area, but couldn't find one. i gave up, the dealer i ended up buying a V6 auto from said that back in the 80's....everyone wanted auto/ Ttops, and opted for the 305 because it was cheaper, and of course not produced until 87. my father told me they also put auto trannys in almost all of them because of emmissions, but im not sure that's true. go to the chevy dealer, and damn near every camaro on the lot was an auto.

ok that is not true at all. the reason that no 350s came with 5 speeds were because the T5 trans blew a fat nut and couldnt handle the amounts of torque the L98 could put out so they put in the 700R4 cuz it handled more power. there were 350s in 86 that were tpi, maybe even 85, i forget. and l98s did come with ttops, more commonly in firebirds

tjs....not sure who your responding to, i never made any reference to the 350/ 5 spd combo, i know that's why they didn't do it. i was looking for a 5spd 305. the L98 TPI motor was introduced in the corvette in 1985.

Sup guys, I own an LT1 but I'm not here to troll... TJ is my buddy, and he's right about the third gen. The t-top isn't as rare as you say on the 350. And about his car being a 350, haha, 305 F-bodies just don't move that quick. The Ford 302 maybe, but not the F-Body 305. It's really a pretty big garbage motor. His two WS6s were pretty nuts, but he probably won't brag about them. I'd be willing to bet he could easily hit 12s in his 88... peace guys.
Lol just wanted to add that his 305 IROC probably wouldn't run as quick as the 4.6 Crown Vic that most cops have, lol. SLOOOOOWWWW...

oh man this is the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard. i like the shiny waxed car reasoning for the radar gun. or his girl giving him a knob nibbling while he is driving. or he can outrun any cop car. haha this is funny
