Default just about to buy a new 06 V6

We're buying a new 2006 Mustang V6. It's got the pony package, and some other goodies. I TRIED talking my dad into a Gt, but I couldn't.[:@] Well, I started talking about add ons, and my parents were like YOUR NOT DOING ANYTHING TO OUT NEW CAR. I was like, you'll get better gas mileage...... and all i care about is the horsepower though. What do you guys recommend? im thinking, a tuner, a CIA, and maybe alittle flowmaster muffler for the exhaust. Oh, BTW, im not new to cars, i have two older mustangs, and have worked on cars for along time.

wait till the x charger comes out, its a supurcharger that will help aout alot int he horsepower department and get rid of all that lag... if u tell them about the tuner, there gonna get that and be dun with it, but if u ONLY tell tham about the xcharger.. u might be in with a shout to get it!!

5 speed or auto??

A Supercharger?? I dont want to do those kind of mods and cant afford it...... Or is it another type of tuner thing? Well, the dilemma is, there are two cars we are looking. Both are V6's with the same options. One is red, and the other is green. The green one, is a auto, and the red is a stick. I think we are going to buy the automatic, even though, i wouldn't mind getting the 5 speed manual.

All I can say is rejoice that you will have access to a nice car! Put the speed parts on your older mustangs and enjoy them! Dad's probably wincing at the thought of insurance on a GT with a young driver on the policy so he's bein' nice to let you drive the V6. Congrats!

lol, You're right. He is also thinking of insurance. Also, You're right about leaving the parts for the older ones. I got big plans for my 66 coupe. All i have to say is..... WATCH OUT GT'S!!!!!!!

oh ok, then tuner and cai seems like the best option along with tlok.

also... test drive them both a few times and really make ur desicion on that, after driveing an auto and a stick i wouldnt even consider getting the auto.

I would go red w/stick. I didn't think the 06 had a green color? maybe I'm wrong?

..and then as Paul said two most popular mods are new muffler & CAI & tune to add better performance and sound..check out the muffler sticky at the top.

Congrats and props to your dad for getting you into another mustang!!!!! Best bang for the buck is CAI/Tuner combo. Details as follows:

CAI/Tuner Combo
• Doug/Bamachips: XCAL2 and your choice of TI or C&L CAI. (When I switched to his tune for my old TI, it shaved off 3/10ths on my time, his daily driver is an auto as well, though I think he has several test mules/test customer cars at his disposal)
• Evolution: XCAL2 and C&L (lot of guys use them, they have a good rep, actually met them at FFW, good bunch of guys)
• AZDynoChip: XCAL2 and ? (don't know if they do the internet thing, they will tune any CAI and produce some of the highest dyno numbers)
• Lidio/Alternative Auto: XCAL2 and CAI (I did some research and several shops referred me to him for Automatics, his personal daily driver is an auto)
• Brenspeed: XCAL2 and C&L (another highly reputable shop)
• Justin/VMP Tuning: XCAL2 and ? (Considered one of the top dogs for the V6 stang community and collaborates with Doug on occasion to my knowledge, he’s also tested more CAI’s on the same dyno session than anyone I’ve seen so far, read about it here: http://www.v6power.net/vb/showthread.php?t=25551 )

Stick with any of the above and you will be fine.

Misc. Upgrades

-Axleback exhaust (MRT is the favourite and Scrming dyno'd it to show the highest gain, sounds kick ass in single configuration IMO, can be challenging in a dual configuration IMO but can be done)
-LSD
-Gears
-Tires/Wheels (Saleen, diversified and Casco have good deals on GT take offs, like others have said this is a good cost solution, I think diversified is the favourite around here.)

Now, how about some pics!!!! Welcome to MF!
