Tonight/this morning I ran a turbo CRX w/ "No nitrous, and missing second gear". It did have a turbo. I lost. I had him out of the hole even w/ a bad launch, then by the top end, he walked away from me. According to spectators, he pulled way to fast to NOT have nitrous. Guess I will need some more go fast parts. See 4.6 for poll.

A turbo would help alot on a little CRX, even without nitrous I could see him beating you pretty bad. With your mods, you might pull a 14.8, that CRX probably runs low 14's to high 13's if tuned right.

Oh well, you lose some and you win some.More than likely,he didnt spray.Cr-x's are fugly, but can be made extreamly fast, since they only weigh about 2000 pounds.

my little brother has a CRX with a JDM swap that has some miles on it with no turbo and he's still almost as fast as my stang, he just has to shift more than me, I go thru 3 gears while he goes thru all 5 of his before I put any real distance between us. he envies my torque while I envy his gas milage.........I guess it just depends on what you want and your driving habits

It's good to admit the defeat. It we didn't get defeated, there wouldn't be any reason to keep adding the mods. Here's to the motivation for adding more power.

I'm not positive on this so feel free to correct, but I think it's just a regular honda motor that gets reworked by a company called spoon sports. I'm thinking pistons, rods, maybe crank and sleeved so it can handle boost.

Yea, Spoon is an aftermarket tuner believe.......in the same vein as, say, Roush or Saleen.

A SPOON engine is just a honda engine that the company SPOON builds and modifies. Depending on the engine they range from 5000-10000. They're overrated and you could build your own B series to make more power for 1/3 of the cost.

God only knows what the guy has, it could be a built D series, built B series, built H series, built K series. A turbo does a lot for those engines when some money has been put into the internals.

Yeah,a kid I work with says he's gonna put a turbo on his stock '00 Si that has over 100k and thinks its going to last. The thing is already burning oil[he claims that its normal and the vtec makes it use oil,and smoke like a frieght train]and has been totally raged out.I'm not going to try to talk him out of it,let him find out the hard way.

He def. sprayed me. I have more mods than in my sig. I am not THAT fast but, I can hold my own. The guys that I was with watched, and said that while turbos come on strong in the high end, he pulled me way to fast to just be boost. I was holding him off and all of a sudden, he just walked away. Either way, he beat me so I will have to mod more. I should get some Nittos to let me launch much better than my 245s right now.

The drivers were ok but their crew was a bunch of S___ talkers. I think it is important to give a win credit where it is due. I will not be like some that only post their wins. hahahhhaa time to mod...

Your posting this takes guts man, my hats off to you.

A note on these older Civic/CRX's running around. They are super light, and you can get an old one that is still running in decent shape for dirt cheap. What a lot of the people do is get one, put it through a body shop to clean it up, put fresh paint on it.....get an Integra engine, cam, heads, etc and then throw a ton of juice on it. I've seen these cars run 7's at a 1.8 track, usually strpped down with no rear seat. Talking with the guys that build them, they told me thy don't build them to last. One guy went through 3 engines last year running high 11's, said him and a buddy did the swap, and the engines were dirt cheap, probably talking like $500 bucks.

It's a different world for those guys. Personally, I think the real challenge is going fast while not blowing the motor on your DD, and of course those little Civics stripped and nothing but a box and a souped up engine are death on 4 wheels. I wouldn't get in one!

Vtec equipped engines do burn oil when vtec is engaged... since vtec uses oil pressure to lock the LMAs into place. If he's billowing it he needs to get his rings replaced first.

Apparently someone didn't take care of that b16a2 if it's burning smoke at 100k miles... I'm at 76k and my engine is in superb condition, even with the O2 sensor acting up and throwing a code.

Yeah his car is totally shot, his t.p.s has been bad for about two years now,and recently tore his tranny out of his car, which mommy and daddy had to pay about 2k to get fixed.Every time I see him he's dogging the crap out of it.He claims its got a jdm spec b-16 in it[because its has a red valve cover],if so I hope mommy and daddy has some serious money when it finaly poops.
