Default Ticking under the hood...any ideas on a source?

So I just got this 92 GT, runs fast and strong. Only problem is there is a ticking coming from under the hood...a little more evident when the motor is warm. The motor runs strong, has fine oil pressure and sounds good, so I do not believe it to be anything too serious.

When you pop the hood and put your head right above the motor it sounds as if the sound is almost coming from the distributor..but definately the front of the motor. The ticking gets faster as the motor revs. Any ideas? I'll try to get a video tomorrow for you all.

I know it's hard to pinpoint with the details I gave, but its the best I could do without a vid (which I will have hopefully tomorrow), but if you all could give me steps to follow to figure out the source that'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Randy is right on the money. Lifter noise will not only not go away on its own, the long term damage is a pushrod through your valve cover. Ask me about how I know this.

there is no way to adjust your lifters....it can also be an exhaust leak, put soapy water on the header

Your rockers....adjust your rockers, or perhaps you have a collapsed lifter....

if you want to pinpoint the problem do the old screwdriver to the ear trick.

put the driver end against what u think it might be and put ur ear up to the other end..it will multiply the sound and you will be able to tell if thats where its coming from

I guess a collapsed lifter needs to be replaced?

I know how to get to the rocker arms, but how do I adjust them? (With the screw obviously...but not sure what to adjust them to)

You have pedestal lifters right? You will need to shim or remove shims. If you don't have any shims to remove you will need longer push rods. You have to take you lower intake off to get to the lifters, maybe even the head(not sure)
