I haven't really been in this convo yet.... but, I like the X-charger and am waiting to see what the hi-po kit offers.

As far as an Eaton with an intercooler.... looks like it can be done... and, has been done from one of our favorite guys around...

http://www.alternativeauto.com/misc/marauder.html

Hamidmt that wasn't a 4.0 that was a different motor and Lidio said that system wouldn't work on the 4.0.

LOL... yeah, I realize it wasn't a 4.0 and a very different car.... didn't know Lideo already X'ed out the idea. Just clumsily trying to get across the point that it's possible to fabricate an intercooler for an Eaton. I'd love to hear Lideo's explanation about why it wouldn't work with the 4.0.

The area between the heads is not large enough for that intercooler setup according to Lidio.

Jumping in here with a comment on gears. I called Doug a Bamachips and asked if a should keep stock gears with the X-Charger? He recommended the 3.73 gears, said they'd work great with the X-Charger and would give much better launch. So, I'm changing gears to the 3.73s next month in advance of getting the X.

Looks like TJ was close to spot on on the Xcharger and optimal gear ratio. Nice call.

in fact, 3800performance.com makes an intercooler for the eaton m90, granted its for a 3.8 GM motor but.. could it be adapted?

adapted? no. Youd have to get a custom one made. Not sure about the clearance though, becacuse you are talkin bout adding around an inch or so to the heigth, might be too tall.

Intercoolers

Its really not that important on this X Charger for the following reasons when you think about it..

Ok few things here first of all 7psi and under an intercooler won’t help much if any, second it looks like this X Charger might run cool enough due to new design to safely 9 psi according to Doug but wait for confirmation on that. If this turns out to be true then an intercooler is not going to show much of a gain anyway and not worth it.

Keep in mind going to 9 psi is only going to net you about 10RWHP so IMO an intercooler is not worth it. But remember it looks like the X runs cool enough to run 9psi without an intercooler but again we need confirmation.

Now if you want to run a roots type/ twin screw supercharger 10psi – 21 psi then yes you need and have to have an intercooler setup.

If all you looking is for a bit more power out of your Mustang and are happy running somewhere in the 13’s then the X Charger is a nice setup and an intercooler really is not needed for this setup.

On a side note something to think about, the ProCharger running 9psi with an intercooler in 5.0 Magazine made 320RWHP at 5800 RPM and on a bone stock auto ran 13.86.
Keep in mind ProChargers make slightly more HP than Vortechs out of the box

Afixers X holds up pretty well above but now lets compare apples to apples.
What do you think the non-intercooled ProCharger or Vortech running only at 7 psi would run?

To the guys who pm me been busy will reply soon.

IMO, the x-charger should just come out so everyone can quit making guesses on what might happen and what if's and maybe's....lol, i know its obvious but its the best way to solve all of this...

That's not such a great time with that much hp/tq. But, it was stock other than the supercharger... how many guys are gonna run a supercharger with the stock tires, differential, etc? There's a whole lot more in that car.

Hamidlmt you missed the point :) that Procharger at 9psi running an intercooler example is a base line vers Afixers reliative stock car stock baseline( ex exhuast ) which should also be high 13's per his 8.95 1/8 mile run. So now if we add LSD, gears, and headers, etc to both they would both progress to a faster ET they are kinda of close. Afixers holds up pretty well to the ProCharger above.

So my point above is (and in my previous post) now lets compare apples to apples now throw in a non-intercooled ProCharger or Vortech running 7 psi vs non intercooled X Charger stock base line or with the same mods to both cars.

ah, yes... I hear ya now.

I don't think we've seen anyone on the boards with a non-intercooled Vortech or Procharger. So, it's hard to compare right now.

Rygen could you fix your post above looks like you are quoting something I didn't say thanks.

In regards to to your question
quote:

I don't see where you would fit it. Where did MSP install his heat exchanger?

MSP never installed a heat exchanger only an A-A intercooler and an oil cooler. The heat exchanger looks goes in front of the radiator same setup as the S/C 03 Cobra's.

I actually think he installed a cobra heat exchanger. I will go to the thread he created on it and find out.

EDIT:

Yep, he squezed one in there, here is the write up:

http://www.v6power.net/vb/showthread.php?t=27221

I didn't know he installed a heat exchanger, but like I posted above to blackfoot you could install a heat exhanger to cool the air from the X Charger if it is possible to fab a IC under the X Charger.

I've been told there is not enough room in the valley of our motors (90 degree V)
