I'm re-assembling my 289. I don't have an alingment tool for the front seal. Can I just install the harmonic damper and torque it to 90 ft-lbs. to align the seal?

With the seal installed in the cover, start your bolts for the timing cover but leave them very loose. Install your damper and then tighten the bolts on the cover. The damper will center the cover.
