Guys a friend of mines just picked up an 05 350Z 6sp man, Somehow he has it in his head that he will run circles around my 01 Cobra. All things being equal, what do you guys think?
I kinda raced one when I had only an exhaust on my 99 Cobra.. It beat me off the line in first gear but I then began to pull HARD in second.. The guy shut it down as I was about 1/4 way into 2nd so I never really got to see how it was going to end up..
This very short race was well over a month ago so from the best I can remember I would have killed him if we went up to 3rd and 4th gear w/ no problem..
Yeah I hear that they are pretty quick, but on the heavy side. I have never really seem on in action. I guess will do some reaserch on the test numbers for this car. But I am confident I am going to roast him. Thanks for the input.
My dad has one and he was neck and neck with me when i had my GT. There quick and pull hard in every gear. I think you would be able to take one though. Stock vs Stock that is.

Spray you think the Z will take me in the turns? I figuered the Cobra w/IRS was comparable in handaling to some of the better handaling cars out there. We have this spot where go, it's about 3/4 mile str8 strecth of road then it goes into a mild up hill sweeping left/right then another 1/4 or so of str8 away. it's an old airstrip that was coverted to a regular road. So I gues I better make sure that I have him by a good distance before we come up to the turns huh? I am not worried about the str8 aways, but I was little concered about the S Turn.
Yea im telling you that Z handles awesome. My dad took me around a turn at 80 and you can barely feel it leaning. At 60 you cant feel it at all. Straights you got em all day.

OK We finally Went at heads up Monday night. I had to get a CV boot replaced so thats what the hold up was. Anyway, that 350Z is pretty damm quick of the line, but not Quick enough. When it was all said an done I got him by at least 3 cars. He closed on me when we went into that left right sweeper I mentioned earlier in the thread, But I had to much of lead on him. We went twice, and I beat him by 4 cars the second go round. He wants to get the TT set up for his Z now. It should put him at about 385 HP. He might have chance then LOL!!!!!
YEah they are quick, espcially the track editon. The latest modles are running 300HP. Might be able to run with a GT, but I am not worried. Outside of Terminator/07 Shelby, C7 Vette, or a super extoic, I think I can run with anything on the street. Stock for Stock.
good job, how bad was he catching up on the turns? I would guess that with a few suspenton mods you would match or beat his handling. plus your car will take upgrades much better. Imagine if you added twin turbo. If you check out "hp turbo" website you will see that your car would probably be around 500 or more hp with about 8psi with their twin turbo kit.
He closed the gap by at least a car in a half, but then again I let up in the turns. It was a friendly race and I love my car did not want to wreck it. The second time though I went at it. At least 8/10ths driving. he did not close the gap that time.
