Im looking to add racing stripes to my 2002 mustang, from baltimorestreetmods.com . some opinions needed tho:

-should i go with 9 or 10 inch stripes? i dont want ot wide or to skinny for the car

- since my car is white, i think a blue would look good. should i go with the ford blue or olympic blue?

and how hard is it to cut the stripes? is it something i should get somebody that knows what they are doing to help?

yea, the precut stripes are 200 bucks, sooo....

how much do you think the average bodyshop would charge just to cut/install the stripes? i cant imagine it would be much, but i would rather have them screw up and have to fix it then me do it and have to buy new ones

I'm with you bud, trying to find someway to get some cheaper stripes myself. My cousin is going to a vocational school. He said that they have a graphics class on campus and can cut out the stripes for me. I just need the dimensions so they can enter them into the computer. He told me that all I would have to pay is $5 for a work order plus their cost for the vinyl. Maybe you can check around and find something similar. I went to a sign shop in town the other day and they said stripes would be anywhere from 80 to 160 depending on what type of vinyl, said something about a high performance vinyl, but his wife does the vinyl and she wasn't in at the time so he couldn't give me a definite answer. Also a budy of mine told me he got some stripes put on his stang for like 40 bucks, but he just got them on the hood, one that is wider in the back and narrow towards the front, and two towards the sides. His hood has the two scoops in it and they just follow the lines. I am gonna call around Monday and get some more price quotes, my cousin is out of school all week so have to wait till he goes back to find out what the price will be there.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, when I was getting my spoiler put on at the dealership I asked about some stripes. They said that I could get some put on for around $200. So I went up there Friday to make an apointment and they asked if I had my stripes yet. I said that I thought they had a supplier that they used. I was wrong. They wanted $200 just to put them on the car, plus the price of the vinyl. They also quoted me a price of $700 to paint the stripes an re-clearcoat the car.

I have a 2000 and I went with the 9". I think it's perfect width and gives it a great look. Mine are silver on my black coupe.

I also did all the measuring, cutting, and application myself with the stripes from the same vendor. I highly recommend them.

rockthepony: those stripes look great on your stang. i think ill go with that size, and hope it looks as good on mine.

one more thing: im gonna change the rockers to match the stripes. Ill get the style 1 rocker stripes, not sure about text though. Its a V6, so i cant do any V8 or 4.6 callouts. I was thinking GT232 or something. any suggestions? i might just go w/o the text

Look on ebay for the stripes. I just ordered some from a shop for $90. They are 10" black and a custom shop in my town is installing them for $130. I think that the name was buffshop1.
