would you guys lough at me if I tell you I got smoked by 99(may be 2000) Caddie Seville STS at the light last night?? I span the rear pretty bad... which he(must be Civic driver driving daddys car to pick up whoez or somethin') just took off with almost no chirp. Once I got traction, then I started to chase him down, but he, by that time, was going about 2 car ahead of me, and I couldn't pass him by the next lights...

If you hadnt spun, you probably woulda beat him. Kinda depends, but yeah its a heavy ride. Got power but pullin alot of mass there.. Still like that Northstar engine.

Yeah they will try. Make no mistake, they have the big 50 hp shot in their car, and of course its so much more high tech. So no matter how fast you actually are, they will tell their buds, you got beat. Just no honesty in the world anymore...

Don't forget that STS has much more weight to plant the tires & plenty of torque.
I got beat off the line by a 15.4 second car and it took me a while to catch back up....no shame dude. Just learn to go from a 10-15 mph roll and you won't have any trouble ;)

Build it to run in the 11's or faster. Then it doesnt take so long to catch a 15 sec car. Usually even on the street they cant hang with the 60 ft anyway.. its just BYE BYE SEEEEYAAAAA!!!!! and tailights gettin real small real fast....
Hehehe.. my last car right before my 2003 GT was a 1994 Seville STS (Northstar). That had a 4.6L all aluminum V8 that took 7.5 quarts of oil!!! Not to mention I got about 15.5 mpg highway.
I'll tell you, that engine really pulls hard. I used to beat damn near everything off the line, and forget about it on the highway. I do 30 minutes on the highway to work each way, and I drive fast. The STS is heavy, wide, and has an active suspension (stiffens up when you jam the gas, or at high speeds). There are curves on the highway that I could take at 95 mph in the STS that I'm scared of at 80 mph in the 'stang (bumps in the road around the curves send me flying).
So yeah... don't feel bad. You've got about the same torque, but you just flubbed it off the line.

Go to the track or some desolate parking lot and learn how to hook. Go step by step, try launching at 1500rpm then 2000 then 2500 and so on....depending on what gears you have is what will make you either launch at 1500 or 3000 (tires also), cause sometimes rolling isnt an option
