Default XCAL II

Ok not sure what im doing here. I am about to order the c&L intake and xcal II but want some answers first. When i go to program my computer does the tuner automatically record my stock tune or do I have to tell it to? If the tuner only holds 3 tunes does that meen i can only get 2 custom tunes so i have room for my stock tune? Just wanted to clear things up before I ordered.

Next I have a automatic, who would you recommend. I live in Michigan so I thought about going through alternative auto. On ebay there is a couple places, Breenspeed and Evolution. Which would you choose in my situation?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you have to worry about the stock tune, the X-Cal will reflash it back and you can still have the 3 custom tunes. I'm certainly no expert, I just ordered mine from Bamachips about 15 minutes ago but I did speak to Doug first and I'm sure what I told you is right. I have a manual so I can't say what options are right for you but I am comfortable with Doug at Bamachips; he comes very highly recommended. I feel your pain, I took a long time to make the decision too. Good luck!

hello fellow michigander! LOL!

For an automatic I have to recommend Lidio at Alternative Auto... When it comes to automatics, he's the top guy! LOL!

Yes, the first time you flash your car, the x-cal2 will automatically down load the stock program so you car can easily be returned to stock! So the 1st time yo flash your car is does take a bit longer... LOL!

Where in Michigan are you?

This is important.... nobody is proven to be "the best for automatics" or "the best Mustang tuner".

There are four typically used tuners by most on the board... Brenspeed, Bamachips, Alternative and Evolution. EVERYBODY RECOMMENDS the one they bought. I do too.

Evolution has the best prices, and a good rep. That's why I went with them. I could not see paying some of the others $80 more for the XCal2 and C&L CAI combo. They are all SCT tuners and all start with the SCT provided tunes. I got the combo for $580 shipped. More than $80 less than others.

Pick any of the four and you are fine. Nobody can prove whos best. If they say they can, they're full of crap. It's all folklore.

Tuner holds 3 tunes and your stock tune.

I have had two tuners do tunes for my car for two different intakes, one of them did better with the AFE the other did better with the Demolet. I got my tuner from Justin at Velosity Mustang Performance and I'm using his tunes right now....Great throttle responce! good power, torque and fair mpg. With the other tuner I get NO throttle responce and mpg's are in the toilet. So it just depends.

once again... some of us have talked to a lot of different shops... been to national events... overheard phone conversations... When it comes to automatics there is one name that constantly comes up... Lidio...

OK thanks for the info I will be calling alternative auto on monday. I live in unionville. Just think it would be better if I bought in state in case of a problem, that way I could take the car to them.

My decision was based on price. So I went with Evolution. $565 shipped.

I don't have an auto but I will differ to a guy who's car (The Mistress) just got a 4 page article in Modified Mustangs. He and the guy that tunes his car might know what they're talking about.
