The funny thing is how things change over time. Twenty years ago, a car that had 200 HP was kickin' but. I bought a new Thunderbird V8 with an 8 cylinder fuel injected engine, and thought it kicked butt. I looked in up recently, and it did like a 9 second 0-60. Now, 20 years later, we have a 210 HP car that we can easily mod to 240 HP and 250+ torque, and somehow we feel cheated.

The other thing is mixing up the numbers of performance with the feel... our cars can put 200 torque to the wheels, at 3500 RPM, that's a lot. Since I put on my CAI and 93 Octane tune, people are stunned at how fast my car is and how fast it jumps off the line.

Also, did you ever sit, and look at your watch, and reallly see what the difference is between 0-60 in 6.7 seconds and 0-60 in say, 6.2 seconds. That's big difference to modders, but actually look at your watch.... at 6.2 seconds off your watch, say "time", then 0.5 seconds later, say "time". Is this 1/2 second really making you crazy? If so, get a GT. If not, be happy with a V6 that you can mod to the level of a 94 Mustang GT.

Me... I bought a left over V6 that stickered for almost $31,000 (every option available I think) for only $24,000. A GT vert they had would have cost me $34,000. $10,000 is just a ton to pay for a fraction of a second.

You are so right!!! I thought about this too when I think back on my old 5.0, and look at all the cars I used to see thinking "those are fast cars".

I love the styling (have beef with the v6 front fascia, but I'll remedy that soon enough.) It is a whale of a car for the money. My insurance sucks being 23 with my driving record, but it'd suck even worse with a v8. The car is a nice little ride, can get good gas mileage if I want it to. It's very balanced. Kind of a pain how you have to 'unlock' the motor because it's sold in such a de-tuned state, but it only takes a little bit of cash to get the car where it needs to be. Nobody looks at these things and readily asks "is it a GT?" as they did with the old ones, and I like that.

78k? I have really cool one for sale. Just kidding. I have the v6 because I have kids of driving age raising my insurance to more than I used to buy cars for. And 22mpg, it fits in my garage with the ram truck and 73 mach 1, I don't care for all the road lice that want to race though.

I couldn't decide on a convert or a coupe... When I saw this one... I said I'd take it before even getting close to it...(yes, it had me from a wave across the dealers lot) the dealer didn't think i was serious at first. It's a v6, some mods and wheels, she turned out pretty good so far. Money didn't really matter but I didn't want a $38,000 gt vert car payment every month. I've got a 66' coupe with a 302v8 in the garage, I consider this the older wiser me, no tickets so far with happy gas milage. I'd do it all over again the exact same way!

I agree with onefastv6 if money is not the issues go with the V6 and build it to suit your personality and needs or as my wife says (my wants not needs).

My main reason for the V6 was so I could have a project car for my son and me to do together and add our own ****e to it.

I love my 05 vert. I loved the price, love the styling and power, love the gas mileage, love everything about the car. I also love the extra money in my pockets (from lower gas bills, lower insurance, lower car payments) that I can put into mods.

I love my V6, kinda for the same reason as scrming...cars nowadays are already way overpriced, so why pay even more for a GT, when I was able to get a vert and with what I wanted for less. The insurance & gas things feeds into it as well, but that is really not much different. If you are looking to trade in the future, get a GT, as they maintain the value better than the 6...since money is not an issue, get what your heart tells you!

I love the look on my passengers faces when their head slams back into the headrest
and the question that follows....You DID say this was a 6 didn't you?.....

Sleepers are so much more fun. Power is expected with an 8 and doesn't surprise anyone.

There's NOTHING I don't like about my Stang. In fact I sit NAKED in her at midnight sometimes in the garage with a Jack and Coke and admire every inch of her. This is after 6 months. I'll be doing the same thing in 6 years (if my liver holds out)

I want to buy a new car, and i absolutely love the new mustangs. I can't decide between the v6 and the v8 though. It's not really a matter of price to me, i just wondered what you v6ers thought of your cars? do you love them? and why?

The lack of fog lights! Sorry, I know that's not a popular opinion... but I think they're ugly. ;)

I've had two V6 "mid-sized conservative" cars prior to my 2006 V6 Mustang. This Mustang blows away my '05 Sable GS (158HP MAX) and my '96 Buick Century (that sounded and acted liked a police car when you kicked it in when already doing around 40mph+). I like the slight... and slight is all it is... gas mileage advantage over the V8 and I like the savings $$$. BUT... for me... the real deal is simple... a GT Mustang would've been just too much car for me. I'd be sitting in jail right now rather than typing this in my comfy air conditioned home if I went for the GT. The V6 rocks at 210HP with a 4.0 Liter. It is tight and zippy and very handle-able with plenty of power when you need it. And mine is even an Automatic and I love it.

And as others have said... it still turns the heads as much as a GT. It just depends on how much car you really want and/or need.

Brand new and first time Mustang owner...and a very happy one! I've only had it for a couple of days and am thrilled with the way it looks and performs. It's dark blue (no decent pics yet), manual shift and has the Shaker 500 system. This car certainly can turn heads. Looking forward to getting to know more of you in the forum

It was the Pony Pkg that sold us. I never liked the big Fog lights in the GT's grille. We loved the Bullet mags with the GT suspension. Plus the V-6 gets better mpg. Has good power, and cheaper Ins. So far we have had it for 6 days and no problems.

I love just about everything about it. My only gripe is that I think the GT front fascia looks much better, but that's cheap and easy to fix. That being said, I love the grill without the fog lights and I highly doubt if I'll ever go with a dual exhaust. I just ordered my first major mod (MRT axleback) so I'm excited about the way it'll sound pretty soon, but I like the uniqueness of the single exhaust look and will proudly keep my V6 looking like a V6 to anyone who can tell the difference.

Pony Package looks could kill, performance is the best bang for the money, wealth of options for tinkering around with and customizing my car...I could go on a long time about how kick-ass my car is, but since I've just noticed that the topic creator has joined our ranks already, there seems to be no need.

Suffice it to say, the V6 Mustang is a rolling work of art. As a still-life it's beautiful, but as a daily driver it's a piece of choice performance art. Fun, excellent road manners, and when you want to go nuts it's got plenty of balls when you let it off the leash.

Go ahead. I'm gonna contact the moderators and tell 'em that this type of post cartainly has more relavance to a V6 4.0L forum than "who's playing what video game?"!

Sounds like someone's feelings are still hurt (unless you were being sarcastic, in which case a smiley would have been appropriate after your message).
