I love the fact that I get asked by people in POS MiniVans "whydyabydatder6" ifertmeidagatntheGT" And yes all one word like that. I would never get to speak to such simple minded people if I had a GT... I feel it really keeps me real.
The 6/8 debate still continues in my mind, even after purchasing a V6. I got the V6 with the Shaker 500 and Pony Package, which makes my car a GT in every way, with the exception of my quiet single exhaust, smaller engine, and smaller fog lamps (which I prefer). I saved 7 grand this way, my gas and insurance are cheaper, and the thing is less likely to get stolen. The only thing I wish my car had was a meaner exhaust, but that's an easy mod.
Besides, being a father of two young kids, I sometimes get "the look" from other minivan-driving parents who have no appreciation for bitchin' Mustangs. I'm sure a GT would magnify this problem.

the only reason I would want a gt would be for the exhaust note
besides I love the note my 4.0 makes with the MRT axleback on it... Its just unique, and MEAN
I named my mustang Its name is babe
I wash it like almost every day
and I think that I might actualy have a sexual atraction to it
'nuff said,

well, some people asked me how little money made a difference...and i really do mean, no difference. I have 78,000 dollars to spend (hopefully not all on a car lol). I love the passion you guys have for your sixers. What got it for me though was the couple of comments that i saw to the effect of "i don't race, so why get the v8?" i agree, i'm not a racer...i'm a shower. I'll get the v6 and mod it up!

I like the style of the car so much the engine didn't matter. Yeah it's nice that it has power, but if there was a four cyclinder. I would have got it just for the looks.
My 2nd car was a 68 stang, thats where the love affair with them began. BTW the 68 had a 289 V8 and I'll bet this V6 is as fast or faster.

I learned to drive on a 68 (in 68 BTW) and have loved them ever since. I fell in love with my silver convertible as it sat on the lot at the FORD dealer, we had just finished inspecting my wife's then LASER RED 99 convertible.
The V-6 has everything I need, plus some gas mileage (quite impressive for a sporty car). A GT take-off muffler and some minor cosmetic changes, I love it.
Before you decide, you might want to call the insurance man, his answers as to rate quotes might make the decision for you. The SIX should be much more reasonable. [/quot

For the price difference between the V6 and v8, us V6'ers can pay for a lot of mods (whether it's body kits, performance upgrades, etc) before ever approaching what you would have spent for a GT. Of course, I too have GT envy and am trying to figure out how to work a 2005 Grabber Orange California Special into my budget :-)
well....in response to rygen, i had a GT pull up to me today and say "that v-6 really ruins that car" This dude was a dick, so anyway puts his car into park at the stoplight and revs it up...(automatic tranny).....but before i finish keep in mind he had some gay body kit on it that made his bumper stick out 3 ft on each side and a stripe down the side of the door that said "GT 330"...anyone heard of a GT 330???? Anyway so he gave his car a rev....gave mine a rev....light was green, and i took off....i had him by a car length at first, then we were neck in neck, i pushed 3rd gear all the way to about 5000 (pulling away from him at this point) at prolly a 2 car length differece i look back he gives me the finger and makes a right turn, THATS why i LOOOOOOVEEE my V-6, major sleeper car..

Great story. Weird, I would have thought a gaudy body kit would give him 20 hp. Hmmm, maybe that whole ricer mentality is bull. Nice kill on the GT by the way.
LOL. Yea, I don't go hunting for GT's cause mod for mod, I will not be able to keep up with them. But I like suprising them. I actually got props from some GT's this weekend, apparently some BMC members were there and impressed with my little six. LOL.

I'd show a Saleen with that much dough! Armorall and wax are cheap!
before my 86 347 was jacked it ran with a camaro ss and its shot of nos, and ricers knew they had no chance. Now the ricers see the 4.0's single tail pipe and think they have a chance, and i get to show them the lisence plate they rolled up on.
The funny thing is how things change over time. Twenty years ago, a car that had 200 HP was kickin' but. I bought a new Thunderbird V8 with an 8 cylinder fuel injected engine, and thought it kicked butt. I looked in up recently, and it did like a 9 second 0-60. Now, 20 years later, we have a 210 HP car that we can easily mod to 240 HP and 250+ torque, and somehow we feel cheated.
The other thing is mixing up the numbers of performance with the feel... our cars can put 200 torque to the wheels, at 3500 RPM, that's a lot. Since I put on my CAI and 93 Octane tune, people are stunned at how fast my car is and how fast it jumps off the line.
Also, did you ever sit, and look at your watch, and reallly see what the difference is between 0-60 in 6.7 seconds and 0-60 in say, 6.2 seconds. That's big difference to modders, but actually look at your watch.... at 6.2 seconds off your watch, say "time", then 0.5 seconds later, say "time". Is this 1/2 second really making you crazy? If so, get a GT. If not, be happy with a V6 that you can mod to the level of a 94 Mustang GT.
Me... I bought a left over V6 that stickered for almost $31,000 (every option available I think) for only $24,000. A GT vert they had would have cost me $34,000. $10,000 is just a ton to pay for a fraction of a second.
