Default 88 tbird turbo

i found a decent example of a turbo coupe ac works(important in the south), new tires, 5spd car whats the best upgraded turbo over the IHI?? the t3/t4 hybrid, i had a svo but sold it an right now another is out of the question. this tbird is going for 1200.00$ well within my reach at the moment. it needs rear brakes at least it did unless the guy fixed it? and i found an auto turbo coupe so ill steal the 3.73 rear from it

best turbo? holset hy35

all you need is to modify the wastegate rod and bracket, get an adapter for the oil feed line, and exhaust, you'll be doing new exhaust anyway

the best direct bolt in is a T3 off a merkur, svo or older TC, which is what i have and is great for everyday driving in the mustang

the ranger is for power and has the holset

not to steal the thread but can you upload pics of the holset on the ranger? i've been thinking about ditching the t3 for one since they are cheaper than a new t3/t4 hybrid

Personally, i feel a good T3/T4 is the best upgrade for someone who might not be the greatest with fab work. I have a T3/T04B on my car, and it dropped right in, only needing to change the oil drain tube.

Before swapping turbos, do the basic mods and have some fun. Get a cone filter on it, get a full 3" exhaust, put a Walbro GSS340 fuel pump in it, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and a boost controller. Youll be amazed the difference.

its already got exhaust done i doubt its three inch though. i ran a straight pipe on my old svo this one would stay a little less noisy!

doesnt the grand national/turbo regal use the t3/t4 hybrid? is it a direct bolton i know where a turbo regal is sitting

3" is the only way to go. I had the catback completely removed from the car, and a full 3" exhaust makes MUCH more power than that. My cars a bit loud, and doesnt sound the prettiest, but it runs its ass off.

the GN's used a T3 super 60 if i remember correctly. In the 80's, turbo technology was still fresh, and hybrids wern't even though of in american cars.

i think it uses the same t3 flange to bolt to the exhaust manifold, but i think the downpipe flange is different on the holsets

i forgot to mention the compressor outlet is huge, i think it needs 3 inch intercooler piping
