Your mileage may very but I am not having much fun. I am relaying my story in the hopes that those looking for a V6 stang will understand that there are some dogs out there:

My 2006 Mustang has been in for service five times now and it is a month and a half old. Right off the lot, there was a leak in the weatherstrip near the top of the windshield. Parts were ordered, so I went back in a week to have it repaired. Before I had a chance to get many k’s on the car, the coolant reservoir started overflowing. That was repaired. Then I went on my first trip and noticed a significant rattle in the convertible latches so I made another appointment. Before I was able to get in for service, I noticed brake fluid leaking from the reservoir cap. I went in for the service appointment and more parts were ordered. A few days later, I went back and the repairs were made. A couple days after taking my vehicle home, I went for a drive in the rain. I found that the right wheel well in the trunk was full of water. Back in for repairs. Took the vehicle home and the next day, same thing, water in the trunk. My vehicle is now sitting in the shop over a weekend so the sealant can cure. This will be five more days without my new car. While I was installing my radio, I noticed that a number of the plastic trim pins were not even pushed in their holes. I found that the screws in the trunk that hold the trunk liner were loose. Not even tightened up at all, just hanging on the first thread.

Stuff happens and I expect repairs. I have never had so many things on a vehicle in my 30 years of driving. Yes, these are all minor things but it really points to a lack of quality control in Ford's system. How could this get through. These things were obvious as soon as you open the hood and trunk. I must admit I am really pissed right now and have sent a lenthy message to Ford Canada. I did not buy a vehicle expecting perfection. For a company whose motto is quality job 1, I am really wondering what happened here. The dealer is repairing things but I've cancelled two trips and a holiday just to spend time in the service department. Really pathetic if you ask me. There is really no such thing as a Canadian or American car. These things may be assembled in North America but the parts are from all over the place. I hope some assembler and QA person gets their ass kicked for this. I'm busy, have kids and jobs. I have no time for this!

Again, this is not meant to be a warning. This is information to be used in conjunction with the other opinions out there. On the plus side, I don't have many miles on it. Maybe when I trade it in, that will be to my advantage. When I can take it out, it is a fun car!

Had mine for over a year with no issues. There are always a few bad apples in the bunch, I guess you got unlucky with your ride man, that sucks.

Look at ur build date, i BET it was either built Friday at 3.59pm or monday at 6.45 am LOL

But jokes aside that sucks dude, they give u a loaner to drive???? u should push for some sort of compensation.

Good luck

Ouch, that really would piss me off too! I've only had one problem with my car since I've had her, but the dealership paid for it.

Dont worry man your not the only one the stang has seen the service department more than 5 times and I might go tommorow for the rattle TSBs. The first week we had it the rear glass had to be replaced due to broken rear defrosters then the annoying plastic panels popping and comming loose, and the gas tank and the struts and the door handles and the problems with the tint and I can go on and on and on. It is really annoying but it was the first year of production so stuff like this I guess is normal, but in the end its all worth it! :)

Sorry to hear about the problems. Hang in there and hopefully this will be your last trip back to the dealership and you'll be able to enjoy your Mustang for the rest of the summer and thereafter!

Harrison,
I see that you are in Edmonton, so the question has to be asked, Which dealership are you using? K**tw**d or T**m? If either of these two, GO TO A DIFFERENT DEALER. These two are owned by the same family and they don't give a crap once they have your money!

Luckily their reputation is well known. No sure how they stay in business but...... I have to make a road trip so I hope they got it this time.

Plastic pieces meaning, Trunk panels, interior pieces like behind door handles door pin went into actual door and to get out youd have to go out the other door! LOL! Um piece where you foot goes popped off, the piceces above side plastic trim was coming off, rear seat pins keep coming out, the seat flaps coming out twice but they finally fixed it and im sure im missing something but thats about all I can remember right now. Some of them were fixed and some off them still keep on (rear seat pins, piece where you feat goes but once in a while though.

whats the deal with the lemons laws up there? I know when I bought mine the dealer told me after 5 repairs within the first I believe 3 months caused by mechanical/design flaws, they would replace the car with a new one free of charge under the lemon law.

Its the same but you have to go back for the exact problem 3 times.

Ok, here's an update....

Had it in once for the water leak, repaired.

Leaked the next day, left it for three days for the sealant to cure.

Rained two days later, water in trunk.

Called Ford to see if they can offer some remedy. I am patient to a point but when I cannot rely on the car, I get a bit testy. As I said, bought it two months ago, haven't really been able to enjoy it if you know what I mean.

Want to hear a real horror story, my 05 Mustang Conv. has spent more time in the shop than with me, replaced conv. top, replaced front & rearend, replaced mufller hangers, replaced 1 of 3 blower motors, replaced a bunch of knobs on the seats front & back,on the eighth set of stripes, replaced the power steering pump, replaced most of steering wheel & column and still making noises, and last but not least I'm on my 3rd transmission and it's an automatic!!!,I'm filing a lemon law case, wish this hadn't been such a nightmare cause I waited all my life for a Mustang and I love the car, but I've driven more rentals in the last year than I have in my entire life, Thank God it's all covered by the Warr. !!!!

I couldn't believe it either, on the 3rd one I was having the oil changed by a friend that's owns a shop and he said I had a small transmission leak, I went off!!! before I got to the dealership it exploded!! parts went everywhere, when me & the wrecker got to the dealership everyone was hiding. My friend doesn't think I got a lemon he thinks the mechanics at the dealership are total morons, I'm beginning to think he's right, gonna try another one Monday

Before I had a chance to get many k’s on the car, the coolant reservoir started overflowing. That was repaired.
I searched, but couldn't find much about this problem. Do you know what was wrong with the reservoirand how it was repaired? My girlfriends is doing the same thing, but its not over heating or showing any other problems. The cap feels loose all the time, do you think a new cap would do the trick or a whole new reservoir, or could this be a more serious problem?

Thanks

Man I was hoping I didn't have to add to this thread but alas, it's my time to spill the bad news.

My automatic transmission is leaking fluid. The bottom of the engine from the frontbumper to the oil pan is clean. No leaks, just normal dirt from the road. But from the bell housing back is covered in red transmission fluid. Blowback has it spread almost down to the rear of the car.

I'm taking it to the dealership this week to get it fixed. The bad thing is, yesterday my transmission slipped at a red light. I was stopped and then gave it gas and all it did was rev, then it slowly engaged and I started going forward a little then it surged and I accelerated at normal speeds. Coincidence that this happens after I find a tranny leak? I think not.

The car is a 07 V6 with only 4600 miles on it! This should not be happening to car that's only 6 months old. Arrrgghh!!

If your going to keep driving it until you get it to the shop you better add some tranny fluid or it's going to go from a leak to a failure real quick.ORIGINAL: mtnpunk91

Yeah I know. :-)

But how much do I add when I do? Is there danger in adding to much?

The stupid automatics dont have anyway to check the transmission fluid levels!

Of course if it fails and the tranny dies at least it's under warranty.

I guess i've been lucky, i've had my 2006 Mustang since October "05" and it just rolled to 20k on the odometer, and I haven't had it in the shop even one time yet. The only problem i've experienced is those aggravating plastic rivet screws tha keep popping out of the trunk trim pieces. Hell, I just pop em' back in and i'm good to go.

well ford is doing it to themselves. toyota is the king of the world and ford is getting nothin but bad publicity. and it sure doesn't help when you got so many lemons. mine been to the dealership twice. love the car, annoyed with the quality. i'm sure there are worst out there but damn! a great looking/performing/classic car like the mustang doesn't deserve this!!!!![:@]

The dealer claimed that the hose for the overflow was repositioned. Whatever that means.

My car came with defective upper strut mount assemblies. "The Thunk"
4 months & 3 letters to Ford ( one to Bill Ford ), and the Mustang Engineers sent new assemblies to my dealer. Dealer discovered leaky struts as well. Should getting a brand new car fixed be such a hassle? I think not. This has been my only problem, but it ruined the new car joy.

Granted I've only had my 07 for a few weeks - - and my problem was a sloppy dealer problem not a Ford problem....

The first day I had my car home I dropped a piece of wire from my GPS install between the driver seat and the console. When I reached down there for it I sliced my finger wide open on a RAZOR BLADE that someone had left in the car when they were getting the window sticker off!!!

Guess you never know what you are going to get now a days.....

My Stang has been good to me for the most part. I did have a big issue with it about two months back with it reving really high and then shutting itself down. It had to be jumpstarted for the engine to come back on. It was as if the computer had gone mad. This happened about five times... twice in heavy traffic. It was very embarassing, too.I took it into the dealership multiple times and they wouldn't do a damn thing because they couldn't find any codes on it and it wouldn't mess up when they drove it.Apparently the codes get erased each time you jumpstart the car, so finally the code came on and I didn't jumpstart it. Luckily it started by itself and I drove it in the next morning and they pulled up the code and fixed it. The throttle had been shorted out. So in the end the problem was fixed, but Ford was really difficult with it and they wouldn't lend me a car because the warranty doesn't cover that.

My '05 coupe was in the service dept way too much as well.....the auto transmission just died one day - the linkage fell off!! The brakes were always making noises, the passenger airbag said it wasn't on even when someone was sat there. On the last occasion that the brakes were playing up they had just unloaded the "05 vert that I now drive - the only issue with that was the header seal needed some adjustment, oh & the Shaker 500 plays up every now & then too.
