Default Rear end in my '67

Could someone please post pics of the difference between the 8" (assumed 8.8) and the 9" that may have came in my V8 car. I want to order rear disc kit and I can find nothing on it to tell me what it is or what the ring and pinion are. I know the rear end I have the front unbolts (unlike the 10 bolt GM that has a cover on the rear of the housing) I don't know if both ford rear ends that came in our cars are like this or not. Is there a drain plug location difference or shape or anything that I can just look at and KNOW what I have. TIA 05SDI

No, that is not an 8.8 if it is the original rear. 99% chance it is an 8". But, here is one article you can read to tell the difference. We have several other articles dealing with the differences between the 8 and 9 inchers in the FAQ section. Go there to get an education.

Not a problem. If you are lucky, there will be a metal tag attached to the rear somewhere which will give you the numbers that will identify it.
