Default Think my car can handle it?

I want to put a Sony Xplod 1200 or 1400 watt amp in my 1999 Mustang GT that is going to push 2 sony xplod 1300 watt 12" subs. My only concern is whether or not the battery will be able to support an amp of that size wattage. Do you'll think it will handle the amp without any problems.

hahaha yeah it will, those sony amps are like only 500 watts RMS which is the actual power, I got a kicker 1250 watt an a MTX 400 watt 4 channel channel in my car an my stock battery was able to handle it, I got a Yellow top any how.....

What would be the best amp that I can get for roughly 120 bucks, give or take a little? Any suggestions? I was just going to go with the Sony Xplod because I thought it would work perfect with the sony xplod subs. My last amp was overheating badly, so that's my primary concern.

Honestly I wouldnt go with sony their not that good with car audio, and for your price range if you want to go with a good amp you can go with something like this.... Lanzar these amps are awesome for the money an ive seen many Lanzar amps used in SPL (sound pressure level) competitions, give it a shot, its better than the sony

1200 watts from one brand to the next can be VERY big differnt. Sonys 1400 watt amp is like the guy said 500 watts or so( I am a sony dealer, so no lies here) and the JL audio 1000/1 is more like 1400 real watts. Can the stock batt handle it, Hell yes, can the stock alternator make the power to keep that battery full, thats where the brand of the amp comes into play. There is ways you can fix this without replacing the alt. Big power wires to the alt. shorter ground wire to the amp......ect

Default RE: Think my car can handle it?

I went with the Lanzar Vibe426 1600watt 4-channel amplifier. The amp is giving me some heating issues i'm afraid, it goes from hitting hard one second to hitting soft the next. It switches back and fourth between the two, not sure what the primary cause might be. I'm only running it on a Sony Xplod 10' 1100-watt sub at the moment. I'm wanting to upgrade to a second 10' xplod like the one I have, but i'm not sure if the amp heating problem will be fixed or not. I'm sure it shouldn't be overheating just pushing some xplods, what do you guys think?

Why did you get a 4 channel to power your subs???? thats a multi-channel stereo amp, you shoulda got a mono or 2 channel thats why the subs wont hit hard because you dont have that much power going to ur subs
