Hello,


       I am new here so hello gang. I wish to get some help


for setting my ignition timing, what does the cam shaft degrees


have to be set at.      THANKS

Welcome.


I think to set the timing you have to get a timing light (some kind of strobe light i think) and then just rotate your distributer.

first you will have to unplug the little grey pill that is pluged in to the wires near the distributor.  you have to do this so that the computer will not keep chanbging the timing while you are trying to adjust it. with that said try around 13 to 15 degrees timing.  the best thing to do is adjust it and then drive it. andf keep doing that until you have it just right.

but it smells different at diffirent degress, is it normal, can one ways be damaging for the engine, Do you know the factory setting?

13 degres should be safe.  is it raw fuel smell from the xhaust. do you hear and knocking or pinging.

RUN THE HIGHER GRADE GAS OR THE CHEAPER GAS WITH AN ADDITIVE LIKE THE NOS  ADDITIVE.

WHEN YOU TURN THE TIMING UP THE HIGHER GRADE OF GAS WILL HELP WITH WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR UNDER A LOAD LIKE WHEN YOU GO TO PASS A RICE BURNER
