HELP.....Hi, I'm new here. I know almost everything ther is to know, and have installed on almost every car. EXCEPT A MUSTANG... Here is my problem the car is a 96 with the mach system. I have an aftermarket deck installed that runs like cake. No probs there. The problem is that I installed an amp and subs. Now when the cd player is on the subs hit no matter what. and when you turn it up they start making a weird sound. I have talked to a few audio places and they are like you need an interface or to rewire. I have taken both the subs and the amp out and tested it on a vw and the amp and subs work fine. My main question is how do i fix this wiring problem? Any suggestions??

You mean, no matter what they are making a humming noise?

Check your grounding. Something isnt right there. Redo your ground, check your cable from battery to frame, etc.

Also check the deck ground. Run a new one if it looks shady. You can also ground the chassis of both the deck and the amp. If it is humming all the time and making weird noises 99 Percent of the time it is a feedback issue that can be solved with proper grounding

Well this is more what it is..... the subs just hit random. And when you turn the amp or the deck high they just start random hitting and distorting. Here is the thing, i took amp/subs out and installed them in my jetta and it worked fine, any ideas why it doesnt work in my mustang?

How are you getting the signal to your sub amp? Its best to get a line to pre-amp converter and install it from right behind the stereo and run it to the back of the car. And keep your amp ground short - like 3 feet or so - just to a chassis ground in the trunk. Be sure to get your power directly from the battery as well. Don't splice in anywhere. If you do this you won't have any problems.

Ok.. sorry it took so long, but its a friends car and I havent been able to see it for a few days. Here we go: I have everything installed, it works..... but, when you turn up the amp or the sound semi-high (no where near too high) the subs distort bad, real bad) They seem to hit soft compared to when i have them in the jetta. I have several pics that will try to show what/how everything is installed. I shortened the ground to like 6 inches and this seemed to help a lil. i tried to put subs and a different amp in my 04 mach. it will not work!!!! in order to get it to work you need to replace the entire system, new speakers,hed unit mp subs. everything. this is whay 3 different place told me. hope this helps man

I had to get two modules, one for the head unit and one for additional subs for my Mach 460 system. It works great now and sounds awsome, but you absolutely need the modules. I can go look to see what brand they are but they run about $60 for each one. I had a website but can't find it right now.

yeah... you have it wiring correctly but the mach sound system are very picky... oh and I wouldn't run the power wire through the steering column hole... one more duh check... is the ground clean? (is there bare metal where the ground connection is at?)

Ive got a 96 with an aftermarket head and subs and just started having this problem too. I had an old pioneer head unit and everything worked fine, but when i switched to a sony i started having that problem. After taking it to a few places they said it could be a number of things but mostly likely somethin is up with the ground or the wiring. I just ordered new sony speakers and amp so im hoping with the upgraded wiring this will solve the prob. If all else fails just go through your wiring again its gotta be somethin in there.

the mach 460 system is a bitch, i'm getting a new system put in, and basically my friend who works at circuit city said its something to do with how the whole car is wired. you have to buy some sort of new wiring system, or a passover to bypass the factory wiring. then you can put in new speakers, subs, amps, and everything should work fine.

One thing you want to make sure is to run your power wire and your audio wires on the opposite side of the car. If you run them right next to each other your power wire will disrupt your audio. That and make sure you have a good ground.

doesnt the mach system have a built in amp.....and wouldn't that cause distortion if everything was amplified twice??

im a mustang noob, but that is the problem i had installing a new deck and subs in my friend camaro SS witht he monsoon system.
