Being a mustang owner myself, it hurts to say this. But after reading Car&Driver and Road&Track this new Shelby looks like a total crap. 500hp! So what? If it can't beat an entry level corvette, this mustang is just a poser.
So you guys will say this mustang is a heavy pig, right? But that's no excuse for the slo-mo performance. Look at the BMW M6: heavier than mustang, same HP, but the performance is day and night difference Ok, mustangs got no traction...But how come the heavier bimmer leaves 1/4 mile 9 mph faster?
You'd say, this mustang is still a pre-roduction, blah, blah. Either way, it will never get close to 121 mph. Yes, I know the BMW costs more than twice. But most of that money goes for refinement and luxury, not for a drag race.
Something terribly wrong here: either M6 underrated or our beloved pony overrated.
Sad but true.[sm=exactly.gif]
I didn't imply whether I'm buying it or not. I own '97 cobra myself and I'm happy with it.
By starting this post I'm trying to show that not all mustang owners are kissing Ford's ass.
I'm trying to be honest- this new shelby is a piece of show but not enough go.
While it may have a weight issue I've never heard of a 4,000 lb vehicle pulling .92G on the skidpad or running a 68-69mph throught the slalom. So its not all bad. But for my 40k I expect better yes.

I would sure like the opertunity to add a few mods to make it hook up..
Drag tires would help a lot. But with those driving on the streets you would look like an idiot.
Imagine at the stoplight next to BMW M6 (or M5) : are you gonna yell to the bimmer guy "-wait, till I heat up my drag radials"? Of course, no. Either way that bimmer would rape that Shelby. And then your only relief would be that his car cost him twice as much.
My My........... quite a strong post for your 3rd. Please define "entry level" ***vette. After that, go to where '97 owners belong and bash the Shelby.
Oh, and BTW, would you like to line up your '97 against me, or others in this forum ?
While we are kissing Ford's a$$, as you stated,................ you can go ahead and kiss mine.
I get the feeling this is going to go over like the kid crying about the saleen his mom bought him only worse cause this guy doesn't even own a shelby.

JMO
Entry level means the cheapest, no options level, which is 400hp for corvette and cost $43,445.
So you got 05-06 GT and you think you are a badass?[sm=hail.gif] I don't think yours is much faster than mine, plus mine is 150 lbs lighter.
