I just got my tranny back 3 days ago, it was overhauled. I noticed to housing is different because the screws are a lot further away from the firewall then they were before. And They have about 5 washers making up the difference on the bolts. But there is a knocking while in drive and turning it seems. Like a hard knock I can feel through the floor. Any ideas?
check the flywheel bolts they migh be loose or the trans mount, bellhousing bolts tight?

This comes from someone who owns an auto shop..... TAKE IT BACK AND TELL THE GUY TO REPAIR IT CORRECTLY!!!! If I did work like that in my shop I'd be out of business in a hurry.
No kidding. They "overhauled" the tranny and replaced the oilpan gasket/rear main seal.
After getting under the car, the tranny is not even the same. Its like they threw another one on and took the inspection plate off to make it look like mine. Its leaking tranny fluid, the rear main or my pan is leaking oil. The tranny knocks hard when I turn or accelerate. They are not open weekends but I will call them Monday and chew them out.
they very well might have done that i was told by one of the tranny guys here where i live that one of the smaller shop were buying used tranny replacing the external seals and painting them to make them look rebuilt. so u might have got hold of a bad shop. heck the subaru delearship had my moms car for nine months and still didnt get the tranny rebuilt its pretty sad if i was her i would have gotten a lawyer!
