The Cali Special is already planned for production.....but it's mostly just an appearance package.....so who cares? The powers that be have said (unofficially) that there are plans for a Mustang model to fall in between the GT and the GT500. It won't be another Shelby.......so no GT350. It would more likely be either a new Mach 1 or a new Boss. Since Ford brought back the Mach already for 03/04, I don't see them doing it again so soon. Plus, there have been a few concept Boss mustangs produced in the last 10-13 years or so......so we know Ford is toying with the idea of the Boss's return. I won't venture to assume what this new stang will be, but here's what I'd like to see: the Boss 331 Mustang for 08/09; 400bhp/420lb-ft trq; NA high compression 32V 5.4 aluminum block motor; performance oriented suspension (lowered stance, better shocks and control arms). Make the front end a combination go-between of the GT and GT500: Shelby styled slanted front pillars with foglamps and pony emblem in the grill (click on the thumbnail below to see what I mean). Then give it a unique hood.....maybe one with a recessed single hood scoop, similar to the 01 Bullitt mustangs.(see pic below)
I like how the new 05/06s look, it was kinda growing on me at first, but when all is said and done the new stangs are gorgeous and they look tough and menacing. But for some reason the new Shelby Gt500 isn't giving me the same impression. I know it has the numbers underneath the hood that'll make people drool, but I think the front needs some work, it looks like it's smiling. Although it does have lots to smile about, I just wish it was a bit different. Who cares, it's a Mustang, and wether it smiles or not, it'll make the competetion whimper.
Maybe this is a dumb question, but is the Shelby supposed to be the equivalent of a new Cobra with "Shelby" name substituted? I also heard there was a V6 Shelby with a Novi-1200 Paxton Blower, it was in Xtreme Mustang Milestones Collector Edition--presented by Mustang and Ford Trader....I think it came out last month.

I read in automobile that they are planning on remaking the GT350H, a car put out for Hertz rental only. They are calling it a Mustang GTH (I believe). It is just an 05' with some mods (intake and boosted hp +15-20 and torque +20-30) The color scheme is black with gold racing stripes and only about 300 will be made. They will be distributed to a select few Hertz Rental Centers and they will rent them for a $100 per day. When the cars reach about 20K they will auction them off.
As far as I know the Shelby is different from an ordinary SVT Cobra, because is specifically designed by Shelby with higher quality parts. This is just what I've heard I don't know if it is true or not.
The GT500 was really for the most part made by SVT before it was disbanded but it just has the shelby name instead of the cobra. The GT500 was originally going to be called the GT500 Cobra before Ford disbanded SVT then it became just GT500. Anyone know for sure...I'm almost positive thats the way it worked out.

I just read over at stangunleashed, the Mach 1 and Boss will both be made!!!! The boss is scheduled for around 2009, but hopefully the Mach 1 comes out a lot sooner than that!

If that's the case I'd love to know what the differences will be between the two.......and which one will be the top dog performance-wise.
if anything the boss and the mach1 will be simmilar in power but the apperances will differ, not all people like the boss logo runnin down the hood and side of their car.

I saw an article in Ford Builder magazine about the new Boss 69 that will be in production soon, they'd test driven one with the appearance package, and there should be three packages, an appearance, one with suspension, and one with a Rotrex supercharger. I couldnt find any pics or articles online so I scanned the pics, I'm in love with the styling, especially the rear quarter panels! Sorry these pics arent the best, its scanned newsprint type paper, what can I say?

JHC.............that is fine Looks like an aftermarket tuner build tho, not a Ford production.
I wonder if either will get a 4v or if they will keep the 3v motor. I also wonder if they will keep a shaker for the mach 1.
