I just recently purchased a metco lower crank pulley kit. It was the 4 lb kit, and i am just wondering if there is anyone that can give me some basic installation tips, or do i have to pay someone else to change it for me. Any help is greatly appreciated

Less belt slip with a 4lb combo

Devin,
Hey pal. Let me first start off by saying that a 2.76 and a 4 lb lower will be WAYYYYYY to much boost, even if your blower was ported!! If you are going with a 4 lb lower, then I recommend nothing smaller than a 2.8 upper. A 2.9 upper/4 lb lower is the perfect combo to run on our Terminators! A 2.7/4 lb lower will be about 17 or more lbs of boost!! After 16 lbs, the Eaton becomes very, very inefficient!! It blows nothing but HOT air. When our computer detects increased heat on the IAT sensors, the computer will start pulling major timing!! This in turn will decrease HP and torque!! In a drastic way! If you do a comparison on dyno charts of various pulley combos, you will see most of them are basically the same above a given boost level. The upper rwhp will suffer with too much boost. You will have great torque but low rwhp. And not to mention, severe belt slip. When a larger lower pulley is added, the ratio of drive and driven pulley is changed drastically. The blower will spin faster at a lower rpm. So when you kick it, if the upper pulley is too small, the increased rpm at a lower speed will cause severe belt slip. Have you upgraded your heat exchanger?? Anything over 12 lbs of boost should have an upgraded H/E!! This will keep your IAT temps down to a minimum! Do you have a snub idler for belt slip??
You will need one if not!
The lower pulley is a royal PITA!! I found a trick to getting the pulley broken loose though. Take notes!! Get a 4 ft bar, grind a small piece out of the middle of it, creating a small fork, get one of the spokes on the lower pulley in the 3 o'clock position. Take the bar and put the fork on the spoke, hit it with a large hammer and it should break free!! I tried the 14 mm ratchet and breaker bar bit and it didn't work, so save yourself the trouble!! Make sure you take all of the bolts out of the stock lower pulley cage first! When the pulley breaks free, it will spin the whole cage off!! Then you will be ready to mount the Metco kit!
You will also need a good tune for this combo!! Just p.m. me if you have any more questions!! Always glad to help out a fellow snake owner!!!
