I have to disagree with you on a couple of points. First, the 1/4 mile times for the Shelby are running about 12.5 to 12.7 in all the magazine road tests. That's SC territory, not Extreme. Second, 7,000+ Shelbys and what, about 100-150 Extremes? Which is rare?
Yeah the GT 500 from the reviews is baiscally running the same times as the SC from what I have read. However the Gt 500 is about 500 pounds heavier then the SC as well, and does not have have quite the number of suspension upgrades. The E is in a whole league all its own, beyond the reach of the GT 500. Price wise SC can be had for about 48 to 60K depending on the load out and paint. So if you figure a GT 500 is MSRP 40 and add your 15 to 20K markup its just a tad more then the SC, and oh yeah they are building 7,500 to 9,000 GT 500s per year compared to the small number of Saleens. Not to be biased or anything, but I give the edge to the Saleen, and I now I have the printed proof from Road and Track/MotorTrend, and Car & Driver. Cheers
The 07 GT500 is about as rare as an SVT Cobra. The looks imo are not even close. Saleen all the way.
What the hell would you do with a 1000hp car anyways?
Get yourself an 88 LX/99GT and put a 1000 hp motor in it an go drag racing instead of ruing a collectible car. The question is do you want a sports car or a straight line hp beast?
Gt500-- good luck getting one for under 55k people are paying 20+K over price, so expect to pay 60+k in the first 6months to a year.
plus there are going to be 9-10k made, if really want the GT500 wait till you can get it for list price.
Yes it has a 5.4l but the car damn near 4000lbs.
The 281E, will only have 100-200 made (not really sure) I do know there was only 1500 made in 06 (or so) so right off the bat a 281 n/a will be allot rare compared to the gt500, plus it has 550hp weight is 300-500lbs less than the gt500.
Plus if you want 1000 hp in a 3v 4.6 if you got the money I am sure you could make it happen, but in that case why would you spend 65-70k for a car a change the whole thing. Might as well pay 25 for a gt and dump 50k in the engine.
SALEEN ALL THE WAY

I say go with the E-car. First, the saleen lookswise will stomp all over the GT500. There's nothing special about the new Shelby, the new Extreme is beautiful.
Second, the power is pretty comparable, and after the dealer markup on the GT500 (which if MSRP is about 40, you're looking at 60k or so depending on how big of a jerk your dealer is) you may as well get the Extreme. The wow factor and the rarity of the saleen seems worth it to me.
I say E also, but if you are in Moscow... Not sure if you would get service on the E very easily and the GT500 may be a little easier if you have a Ford dealer to go to. I dont think Saleen has moved their export to Russia yet. I know Japan... so I agree with everyone else, except on the service factor. I think we take that for granted even though Saleen dealers are still rare here in the US.
