Oh yeah, I listened to rock as well. The Doors are one of my favs. I have several of their albums. There was actually some pretty good rock happening in the 70's and 80's. Elton John, The Village People,Fleetwod Mac, the Four seasons, Three Dog Night, The Doobie Brothers,Isaac Hayes, The Emotions, Linda Ronstadt, Barry White.......Hey, don't get me going. When heavy metal hit the scene, they lost me though.

I forgot to mention Wilson Pickett. The old man just died a few months ago. "Mustang Sally" will live forever in the hearts of old classic Mustangs.

Mustang Sally uh-huh
Guess you better slow your Mustang down
Oh Lord what I said now

Mustang Sally now baby
Oh Lord guess you better
Slow your Mustang down hu-oh yeah

You been runnin all over town now
Oh I guess I have to put your flat feet
On the ground
Hu! what I said now

Listen!
All you wanna do is ride around Sally
(Ride Sally ride)
All you wanna do is ride around Sally
(Ride Sally ride)
All you wanna do is ride around Sally
(Ride Sally ride) huh
All you wanna do is a ride around Sally
Alright (ride Sally ride)
Well listen to this

One of these early mornins
Hey Wow! gonna be wipin your weepin eyes
Huh! what I said now-look-a-here

I bought you a brand new Mustang
A nineteen sixty-five huh!
Now you come around
Signifyin a woman
That dont wanna let me ride

Mustang Sally now baby oh Lord!
Guess you better slow that Mustang down
Huh! oh Lord! Look here
You been runnin all over town
Oow!
I got to put your flat feet on the ground
Huh! what I said now hey-a
Let me say it one more time yall

Now all you wanna do is ride around Sally
(Ride Sally) hu! (ride)
All you wanna do is ride around Sally
FADES-
(Ride Sally ride)
All you wanna...

I live life in the 60's and 70's. Prefer classic rock over today's pop crap (CCR, Eagles, Blondie, Seger) plus who can forget all that classic soul of the Temptations, etc.

Boy, that was posted backwards, huh?

Modern pop crap is computers making the music and correcting imperfections.

60's and 70's rock was musicians, a few microphones and real rock and roll.

:)

Ah yes, the whole motor city thing. Temptations, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Little Ritchie, Ray Charles, Diana Ross, The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Petula Clark. Supremes, Freddie and the Dreamers...........Good stuff.

There is just something about hearing those songs that bring back memories so fast. I hear "Undercover Angel" and remember being a junior in high school (yes, I'm dating myself here) and driving around in my girlfriend's Vega while her brother sat in the backseat, asking us how to French kiss a girl (true story).

I hear "Downtown" and remember my father's car being hit by another on some freeway in New York (odd how they have freeways and we have highways) in 1964.

"Hotel California" reminds me of my junior year of high school and being kissed by a guy named Dave while sitting in his Ford Granada with bucket seats.

OK, let's see just how dated you are. Do you remember hearing "Charlie Brown" on the radio?

Yes, but probably not when it was first released! The Coasters, I believe, were a bit before my time (without looking it up).

First group I truly remember was The Beatles, then (blush) The Partridge Family and The Cowsills.

Yep, the Coasters. Give that girl 64 thousand dollars. Do you remember that show?
Now, I think it is up to a million. Deal or no Deal?

I have Parents who like older cars, with the same taste in music. Well, My dad likes the older cars still. MY mom has moved on to newer cars with A/C and Power steering and all of those other luxuries. but we still all share the same taste in music. Many people my age think im wierd for my taste in cars and music.

Used to cruise to Led Zeplin, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Edgar winter. I still have a Country Joe and the Fish 8-track too. Saw Sabbath at the Park Center in Charlotte when few people knew them. Only about 1,200 people came.

i got the same problem. i just tell the kids my age that if it wasn't for the music i listen to their music would be non-existant. and the same with my car's, plus NOTHING beats the styling of an older car. nowadays everything looks about the same!

yep. I totally agree. I have older people telling me every day how cool my mustang is, but 95% of the younger generation just trash it, and call it junk.

really??? all the young people i know DO have civics and wrx's and all that...but when they see my car, even in its fairly ugly state, they all say how much they would want but....but they simply dont know much about them...they dont know where u would get one or engines or type or anything....they can defintiely appriciate it...but just dont get it because they havent ever been taught or learned about them as modern affordable sports cars whats easiest to get ur hands on because they are so abundant and common.

im serious. A few like it, but most of these rednecks out here in Ga, like lifted trucks, and little ricers. and can care less about "old" cars.

Well I think the classics are great. Love my 65 and 66, but I have no problem with new car technology either-2007 shelby GT can't be all bad. Even some of the ricers. And those that choose them today, in 40 years will be having the same conversation that we are now. As for music, there isn't anything better than the 60's...buffalo springfield, cream, traffic, loved mustang sally.
