Default AUTOCROSSING

Ok guys. I just got a couple of PM's about autocrossing. It is a fun sport. REALLY FUN. It takes a lot more driving prowess than drag racing. And NO, I am NOT slamming drag racing. It's a fact. If you are interested in autocrossing, I suggest you check out the links below.
SCCA
The SCCA is the sanctioning body for most events. This site can help you find events near you, and give you the rules to follow. #1 rule..HELMETS ARE REQUIRED AT ALL EVENTS. No exceptions..

AUTOCROSS FORUM
The autocross forum is cool cus you can also find events, and talk to other autocrossers. Get tips, and advice on how to race, where to race and talk about modifications you may want to do.
Autocrossing is a great way to learn what your car can do, and how to make it do it better.
HAVE FUN!

Whenever the Indy Series comes down to St. Pete I always get excited because the SCCA races there too. They're actually more interesting to watch than the Indy cars. Autocrossing seems like a great sport. I'd like to have a car and race in the SCCA someday.

If you go to www.autocross.com and click club list in the drop down box, you can select you region and find sites from local clubs in you state. SCCA website is a great place to get info and see the National events. Check out both sites if you interested. Its a great form of racing and if you have asperations of road racing (like me) its a great place to learn. It will not only teach you how to drive you car at the limit but teach you how to drive on the road. because you will come across things that you would rarely come across on the road but if you did then you would know how to handle it. And you don't have to have a specially set up car to do it. Ive sseen some of the most craziest cars out there doing it that were never meant to.

I was wondering how hard autocrossing pushes your car. Is it a lot of wear and tear on the engine or the suspension/tires?

No not at all, if you drive the car and not let it drive you. You push the car as hard as it will go. The only thing you wear is your tires. Your not out the very long to do any damage on the engine. After a very very very long time you might need new shocks. And normally race tires last a year or two. So theres really not alot of wear at all on anything.

I totally agree. I would strongly suggest lowering springs, good tires and subframe connectors.

Would my new Kumho's be good? Or would it be better to just put my old wheels and tires on if I autocross?

Your Kuhmos are good but I found out that the stock wheels are better because you don't have enough gear for the 17s. But they would work.
