I doubt very much you are the "first" on the forums to get one if you dad just signed the papers. Not everyone is a braggert and dealerships have been taking orders for months already and trust me their are guys on this forum who've ordered and paid for their GT500's already but won't jump on the boards and say, "I'm the first, I'm the first".
I didn't really take him as bragging, per se, just excitement. Congrats to you and your dad for over-paying on a bloated pig of a car. 4000 pounds? Disgusting, and it even has a solid. What were they thinking by adding that much weight to it? Add a driver and your in GTO country. Big whoop, it has 500 flywheel hp. It needs that just to compete with the 03/04 models.
My new July 06 Automobile mag. gives their stats as slower than or equal to the published Terminator ones, worse mileage, MAY out-corner Terminator (.95 vs. .90), worse braking distance, solid rear axle, and 228 lbs. heavier. I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but the GT500 seems like a step backwards from the 03/04 Terminators. AND, no way can it match my Mystichrome appearance package!! Put a K&N CAI and Bassani cat-back w/a new Predator tune on a Terminator (like I have) & you have a GT500 beater, IMHO. I also noticed the glaring absence of any mention of any comparison to the Terminators! That in itself was self-serving to the so-called first test of the GT500. Usually, when testing a new vesion of a previous model -BMW M3, for example- it is ALWAYS compared to the last issue of that model. But hey, it IS a new Cobra, after all.
I agree, I think it's a great thing! Congrat's to you and your dad. Have fun with it and show it off to everyone who will look! I think the rude comments are uncalled. Who knows he may not like your cars. but, he didn't down on you. It may be jeallousy. Just the same. Have a good time and watch out for cops when ya "get on it".

congrats on the new stang. in this little forum i have already heard a lot of good and bad thing said about the car. I remember back in the day when i got my first 99 cobra(im on my second cuz of bad drivers hitting me) and all the smack that was talked about comparing it to the 98's. But with a little hard work, some money and mods, you can make any overly fattened up, solid rear ended, 500Hp car sickly fast. Good luck to you and your dad.
congrats on the new family purchase get pics asap. I mean when i get out of college in 2yrs i will probably end up buying one of these shelbys when the price has stabilized and i have means to get it. I mean 500 hp for 45k. not bad imo and of course they had to have more power than the terminators they weigh like 700 lbs more. Terminators are excellent cars as will the shelbys be in due time
