I have a 65 ford coupe, it has a 289(over 400hp) that has been bored .40. I have eldelbrock performer RPM series package(heads, cam, intake) and a 750 holley double pumper. Roller rockers, new MSD electronic distributor, long tube headers and much more, the people at eldelbrock told me that the cam and lifters were fine for over 6,500 RPMs. Everytime I get to 6,000 the engine starts to float out on me. Do I need to go to a solid cam and lifters? I thought if was a fuel problem at first but im sure it is not that now. Imput would be nice thanks.

What do you mean float out on you. I have been working in the automotive field for over 15 years the last ten for ford. I have never heard of that term. Give a better discription of your concern and I might have a good answer for you.

The RPMS start to rise really fast when I get abouve 6000. Like the car went into nuetral. My transmission is fine just had it redone. I think my lifters or valves were starting to float( or whatever word you would like to use) out on me.
